Snail or Nudibrach

I will post a pic tomorrow if I see some when the light is on. Anyhow had Clove Polyp coral was doing fine up till last two weeks and basically died. Started seeing white small snails or nudibranch? Can't tell only they have mulitipled extremely fast size is anywhere from quarter inch to inch. They are all white NO shell and have 2 antenae (spelling?). I started noticing them on the Clove Polyps at night a few and didn't think anything of them. Then when I picked up the rock underneath there must have been twenty or more. I took the rock out and last night I noticed about 50 on the rocks and glass. I went through the photograph section to see about identifying but didn't see any pics. Does anyone know what they are by above description? Thanks Mike

I would say you've got arminid nudibranchs.

Arminid Nudibranch? If they are indeed that are they good or bad. Like I said they don't seem to bother anything, but I lost Clove Polpys and they seemed to be all over them and right now my Gonipora has not opened in the past couple days. Do you think it is because of them? Mike

Arminids are specialized predators on soft corals, sea pens, and gorgonians. Not a very good thing to have in your tank if you value your gonioporas & cloves.....

Sorry folks about posting a picture!! I took a bunch but no sense putting it on site, since they are small and not able to distinguish anything. Anyhow went to fish store and said basically same thing a specific nudibranch to certain corals, which explains why my clove polyps were eaten in a couple weeks time before it was too late. As for the last post mentioning they could go after gorgorians or gonipora------which one was it, I have a gonipora that is not opening but I don't see them around it. As for getting rid or them the store said starvation. Thanks for the info Mike

There are several species of arminids. Some feed on soft corals, some gorgonians, etc. All are specialized feeders. If you've already determined that these slugs were eating your clove polyps then its unlikely that they would be going after any other corals.
