Snail Riders

I have noticed that whenever I do a 5G water change, my snails climb on top of each other, sometimes 3 or 4 tall. Has anyone else seen this? Is it a reaction to a change in temperature or salinity? Or something else entirely?

Here's a pic from a few minutes after adding the new water earlier today.

Mine do the same thing, just haven't correlated the water change with this behaviour. I will have to look for this!

Regardless, it is a little odd!

yep mine does it too. But not with a water change per say. Then the one one the bottom does a twisting movement trying to get the hitchhiker off.

One snail says to the rest... " Psssst, hey cinematek is watching. Lets show him our circus act" :lolspin:

I have noticed that most or all of my nassarius snails shoot up the glass when I do a water change. They never go all the way to the top tho. I also wonder what it is about changes that causes snails to behave strangely.

My Nassarius snails climb the glass whenever I do a feeding. The shoot about 3/4 of the way to the top and then fall off.

My hermits also all drop off the rock whenever I feed. Maybe they're trying to get to the food on the bottom faster?

My snails do the same thing, and like Teeka experienced the bottom does a violent (well as violent as a snail can be) twisting motion. Also the crabs have this weird game of trying to climb up the intake tube of my power filter. I have no clue how they even get on to it, its not touching any pieces of rock, weird huh? Then they proceed to climb up the tube, and some get to the top! And when they fall it makes a loud clicking noise, strange.
