Snail that eats zoos

i've heard of them but haven't seen them in my tank. i've heard of people having the nudi branches that prey on zoa's those are bad news too.

i guess that's why people say to dip them before adding them to your tank

I used to work in an LFS and saw lots of zoa eating snails as well as nudi's.

Dip whenever you can. You never know what is along for the ride.

I totally agree. I jus wanted to post this because if people get this as a hitchhiker on live rock, or elsewhere, they might have no idea why their zoos are disappearing.

That's what makes this hobby so fun and so frustrating at the same time, sometimes it's hard to tell why things are going great, or why they are going terribly.

I've had sundial snails before as well .. they survived a thorough dipping. You have to inspect for them, they just close up when you dip them in freshwater and seem pretty hardy.

The freshwater dip usually doesn't do anything to the sundial snail, it is more for the nudibranchs.
Sundial snails are fairly easy to spot because of the checker board pattern on the shell. But I have found some in my tank that were alot darker than any pictures I have every seen posted.
The sundial snail is also identified by the cone shaped operculum.

Yeah I've seen a few at a couple LFS in the past couple months... Luckily haven't seen any in my tanks... They're not hard to get rid of though... Just make sure you do... BTW nice pic mfinn... :)

are there any snails that looks similiar to nassarius snails that prey on zoas? I used to work at a LFS and I saw these tiny nassarius snails gathering up on zoa polyps. Just wondering if they were in fact eating them or just irritating them? These were tiny snails, about 1/4''
