snails eating clams

Anyone else had this problem. I had a small deresa clam for about a month now. I moved it into my large tank and not 2 hours into its new home my nass. snails were in the shell chowing down. The clam was fine so I don't think it was dead or dying, and I had nass snails in the other tank and they didnt bother. ***!

I've never had a Nassarius harm a clam, are you sure you don't have "Whelk" snails which look allot like a Nassarius but are predator snails???

yeah, nass. snails wouldnt kill and eat a live clam- it was either dying (maybe from the move), or you dont have nass. snails.

I look at some pictures on the net to make sure and they are definetly nass snails. Kinda sad as it was doing so well.

I have snails/whelks in my 125, they are in brown shells and have a red ring around they're probiscus. I have found 4 or 5 of them over the last few years. The only clam I can keep in my 125 is a Gigas, it's getting to be about 14". I lost 7 clams in about 4 month period.
I just found pyramid snails on a Squami I have in another tank.
Just put in a bunch of hermits from a clean up crew order in there Weds.

if you are without any doubt they are Nassarius snails, then they were just cleaning up a dead clam. you should of checked the clam closely for pyramid snails or other damage.
