Snails Expelling White "Smoke"

Some of my snails are eating off of my rocks and glass tonight and about every 30 seconds they are expelling a small puff of white "smoke". Does anyone know what this is?

you can choose to turn off your skimmer if you want, as this increases chance of young being produced.
