snails in overflow

ok this sounds stupid and all..but my snails have been getting into my overflow i just dont want them to end up in my sump...does everyone just let them do their own thing and not worry about it?

i let them go where they want. they are in search of food, so they will find it where they can. i have some in my sump. when they get big enough to not fit through then i put them back up top.
