Snails vs 6080

Just set up my 180 with a 6080, in a deco rock, against two eductor equipped returns. The flow is amazing, or "sick" as the kids say. I'd like to shut the 6080 down at night to give the fish a rest, but have a multitude of cerith and margarita snails in the tank. The outflow grate on the stream is pretty large, and I would expect a snail to get in there sooner rather than later.

Is there a mod or add-on to limit the size of creature who could wander in there? I imagine that a snail's shell hitting or blocking the prop would not be a good thing.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

You could try zip tying a piece of egg crate over the front. You are right about the danger of snails getting in, they brake the shaft on impact. Any mod will reduce flow. I know we are working on somesort of cover retrofit but it is real tricky without reducing flow.
