snow algae ?

I'm sure this has probably been asked, but I recently added new MH lighting and I am in the process of rejuvenating my reef and I am starting to grow white snow peaks on my rocks and class. (and on snail shells). The MH lights are only on for 4 hours to start. Does anyone know what I am growing?

PS. just to be clear, it looks like purple coraline algae which is bleaching out in areas near the top of the tank - it is not a hair algae or slime growing on top. Only noticed that since the new MH/actinic lighting fixture.

I always thought they were snail eggs or featherdusters
