i have had my pair of snowflake clowns for over two years now. got them when they were tiny (1") and now female is close to about 3". any word on anyone who has successfully bred a pair of snowflake clowns.

i know it has been done thats how you got yours

where do you go to school for aquaculture??
 
I could be completely wrong, but I think he means that his professions are aquaculturing and being a student...but that would be a whole lot cooler to go to school to be an aquaculturalist.

I'm not talking about marine ornamentals, but there are shrimp, oyster, abalone, freshwater and saltwater food fish farms all over the world that need qualified aquaculture experts.

You may not get rich, but you can do alright and travel.

If you have a good business model, starting your own farm may be a way to go.

Sorry this thread has gotten a little off track.
 
In fairness, the tomatos very well may be on aisle 11 if you happen to have your self-aquacultured LFS set up in an aisle system. ;)
 
not really sure how to respond to those comments other than i get to work/play with fish and love doing it....on another note, anyone ever heard of successful snowflake clown breeding? i have read rumors that they are genetic mutations and therefore are sterile, can anyone debunk this myth?

i think aquaculturing marine ornamentals in a buisness savy way could definietly pay the bills.
i dont care about rich
there is a new place here in my area growning a greenhouse fulll of corals under natural sunlight.

i just really want to go back to school and what a great thing to study. I would of course look to study marine fish farming because that is a real industry with lots of opportuinithy and growth since it is fairly new.

No snowflakes are not sterile. That is a myth.
There is at least one person on this list that has babies from a percula x snowflake (ocellaris).

As to when yours start breeding is anyones guess. Ocellaris clowns have been known to start breeding in less than a year from hatching, however that is unusual. Heavy feeding will sometimes help get them going if you can keep the water quality up. Raising the temp to between 80-82 degrees will sometimes get things going as well.
