Snowflake Eel?

LiveAquaria says the Snowflake Eel is "reef safe with caution," and I have found slim to none answers/comments on this online. Has anyone kept one of these with inverts, corals, certain fishes and have had bad experiences or good experiences? Here's my tank i'm going to set up, please tell me if I can keep one in my tank, they look so awesome and just the idea of having an eel is awesome.

120 gallon rectangle tank.
120 - 150 lbs. live rock
4 inch live sand bed

Flame Angelfish
Coral Beauty
Yellow Tang
Blue Hippo Tang
Ocellaris Clownfish x2
Blue/Green Reef Chromis x4
Barlett's Anthias
Kaudren's Cardinal x2
Foxface Lo
Lawnmower Blenny
Firefish x2
Green Mandarin
Yellowhead Jawfish
Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish

Cerith Snails
Turbo Snails
Nassarius Snails
Trochus Snails
Nerite Snails
Fighting Conch
Red Skunk Cleaner Shrimp x2

Blue Tuxedo Urchin

So, is an eel a good idea?

If it's not a good idea is there a way I can modify my stocking list to make it safe?

THANKS :bounce1:

Bro, I just got rid of my snowflake eel. They are cool to look at and seem cool to have, but mine was the biggest pain. The dig alot, mess with anything that is small enough to eat, keep your clean up crew at bay, and cause a spike in your nitrates. I was having a lot of problems with my tank parameters and with red slime algea. A week after I sold my eel, the tank did an 180 turn. My clean upi crew stayed out and the algea problem disappeared. It was the best thing I could have done. Mine was hand fed, but would act stupid when I would feed my other fish. It was difficult to get rid of as well, I took a loss getting rid of him. Your set up is very similiar to mine. My advise is let the eel stay at the pet store and it is not worth changing your tank for just one eel.

Okay, thanks for the advice. Sorry for the burden it caused you, I don't want my tank go through the same yours did, better safe than sorry. Thanks again.

I may be the exception but I have a 150 with similar stocking list to yours, my eel does great, doesnt bother any of the fish or clean up crew. even ate pellets when he was smaller. now eats muscles, silversides, squid etc from tongs. I think if you get em small and young they adjust to their surroundings, but thats just my experience, I know theres always an exception, am I the exception this time???? Not sure.

I have heard of people keeping them with large fish and coral but not little fish and inverts, But zebra moray eels have been succefully mixed with shrimps, small fish and coral.
A while ago I had one in my 180 with hard corals, lps, sps, small fish such as clowns damsels and one mandarin, But he did eat 2 out of 6 of my pepperment shrimps. Also I had a coral banded with him.
But every fish has a different perrsonality ( mean/nice/aggressive ).
p.s make sure you have a massive tank for an eel unlike 50 gallons for a 3 footer, more like 400 gallon for a 3 footer ( keep in mind would you rather live in a closet or a 5 story mansion )

I was looking into this a while ago and what was said above is what I seemed to find mostly. I also read that if you get them used to eating from thongs or a stick that they become less aggressive and less likely to bother your other fish and inverts.

I love snowflake eels and the thing with them is it depends on the fish some are model citizens some are horrable now compared with most morays they're fine but there's always exceptions and if you're looking for a 100% reef safe eel check out the zebra eel

Golden Dwarf eel. Small and reef safe

I had a eel very similar to this golden dwarf moray eel called the brown spotted snake Moray eel. I kept it in my 60 reef for a while and it ate all my fish and it was only like 10 inches long.(very small) I now have it in my 10 gallon, after tearing down my 60 gallon to get him out which took forever to catch that guy.

Snowflake Moray

Snowflake Moray

I have a snowflake eel and for some reason the other fish started to attack his tail and now we've put him in a different tank cause you can see the flesh from where they bite him! What do I do?
