how big of a tank would i need for one of these guys? id like to house just the single eel and a coral beauty with him. the tank would be up for about 2 years or so before i get my own place, so im hoping i can do a smaller tank than required, i can get a great deal on a 44g pentagon would that work for those 2 years?

The minimum is a 50 - 55 gallon for a SFE. If those are the only fish you are going to add i think you would be ok for a little while at least. I don't know about a 44g pentagon tank, that configuration would probally be to confining.

I would love to see a 36 inch snowflake I dont think they get that big in a home aquarium. In the wild yes, home tank no. I would say a 55 would be fine for quite awhile. I had one in a 60 hex and he loved it in there.

I always say,"Get the largest tank that you can afford". But if your budget is low,I would recomend a 75 gallon system. Eels are escape artist and will escape if they feel uncomfortable. Remember to secure the tank lid.

In a 44 pentagon, I think that your coral beauty would be cramped too. That is a system for clownfish, damsels, and gobies.Get large fish when you can get a large system for them.
