So Geeked just got Pike Blenny from DD

Had to write a message hear because no one else outside of my wife can appreciate the excitement when you get a fish that you have been trying to get for awhile. Just got the Orangethroat Pikeblenny (Chaenopsis alepidota) from DD.

Bought one three years ago from a LFS had it for about a year, and it died from some sort of paralysis in the rear section of it's body, might have had a rock fall on it or something. Was my favorite fish I ever had, tough to find them as they generaly do not have much appeal compared to other species, and from what I understand fish colection in and around Mexico has various issues regading permits and such.

Very cool fish, will live in sea fan coco worm tubes. Easy to feed, have a mouth size worthy of the Pike name. Check out my avatar for a look at the one I had before.

Looks like one sold yesterday, anyone here get it? Was a day behind in checking out the emails, and was really bummed until another showed up today.

Anyone else with some experience with these guys?

No experience but I've seen these guys in action at my LFS and they are AWESOME. They really do have surprisingly huge mouths. Congrats on your purchase!

Thought I would revitalize this thread lol. I am looking for one and I have a tank ready. I know as mentioned there are restrictions in the Mexican waters. Does that mean its impossible to get these guys or do they let a few batches go at a time?

They are truly amazing fish. But I do also have some relatives who can't stand eel type fish but who cares lol.

Any help to any suppliers who get them in?

Just wondering also this is the Yellowface PikeBlenny do you know if these are the female versions to the orange throat pikeblenny's or are they different species of the family?

Two seperate species. Orangethroat are larger and found in the Gulf / Sea of Cortez area, the Yellowface are smaller and a caribbean species.

Do you still have yours and just wondering what size aquarium do you have them or kept them in?

As you know I have no experience in either, so which one as a beginner would you recommend a orange throat or yellow face pike blenny?
