How's the new PAR meter coming along? Any other new equipment on the way? Phosphate meter perhaps? Did we get check in / check out procedures for high end items figured out?

How about some balance sheets showing accounts payable and receivable so we can see just how much this frag swap actually costs? Should be available to members, I would think. That should be a function of the treasurer. Maybe we can get creative to cut costs.

Nope, never been. Heard it's worse than the TN aquarium after I made that post. If it's worse, then it must be really bad. The TN aquarium sucks compared to others I've been to. (disclaimer: Negativity is a side effect of the TN aquarium being nowhere near as nice as the Florida Aquarium in Tampa or the Shedd in Chicago, if it was better, I would say so)

I thought so too. We get donations. Raffle tickets did cost $$ at the last swap, if I'm not mistaken.

At the swap yes comp. Will Give us that stuff gor free. But for meetings no. LFS will give us half on door prizes. But like my meetting. I was trying to get a mp10 for a doorprizes but Scott and Tim at vortech.which they are good friends back in the day. He couldn't donate it for just a club meet but for the swap yes. I for the meeting last weekend I frag 10pcs corals to give as door prizes. And even gave a newbe 4 frags for free.

Why shouldn't members know where their money is going?

For example, in the members only section for the AMA (academy of model aeronautics) they have their full balance sheet showing cash on hand and all expenditures and receivables for the year. It should be public knowledge, not all secret - after all, it's our money for our club and we should know where it's going and why. Nothing should be secret or behind the scenes when it comes to how much the frag swap costs.

Hell, I spoke with the President of the Columbia R/C fliers this weekend and he immediately started talking about the state of the club with me and I didn't even ask - absolutely nothing secret or behind the scenes in that club, either. This was before I even said I was joining.

That is what I have heard. Where is the new club equipment? Until 2 months ago, no one even knew where most of the old stuff was. And speaking of that, all I know of is suction cups for moving tanks and a fish trap, I think there is one other thing, I can't remember.

So where is the benefit from that. I can lift my tanks with a friend for free, and I can make a fish trap for 89cents and little superglue.
It would make sense if there was a par meter, or precision testing equipment and other stuff like that.

My meaning was the nepotism (closest word i could think to convey my meaning at the moment) that has been proven to me by not holding "the card". Also, I guess what I mean is the idea that the mtrc IS the reefing community in Mid. TN.

And yeah there is probably stuff on there that you will never use or could make yourself but that's just the way it is..

Unfortunately because the club equipment was never handled the right way before and stuff got lost/stolen there is alot of hesitation to go out and buy really expensive stuff but that's not to say we never will. We just have to come up with a really good way of not getting ripped off.

Grey areas are a bad thing to have in a club. I've been a member of more than the MTRC and it's the most disjointed, secretive organization I've seen. No offense. There's ways to pull together and change for the better. That's the point we are trying to make. But, whenever something is mentioned, it's taken as a personal attack, and it's far from it. It's bad when the president goes on hiatus for 2 months and nothing seems to have been done to remedy the issues at hand. Some of these issues could have been taken care of already.

It's common knowledge, but so far, there's no evidence of such. Where is all this new equipment? We had thousands stuffed away in CD. Has that come due? How much was spent on the swap? Andy did the website with free tools - or did we pay him to redo the site?

I would think that we should have a good cash balance on hand but to date there does not seem to be anything done with what we have paid in. Expenditures should be common knowledge (hey, make good use of the members only section of the mtrc.org site - balance sheets should be available there, not publicly on RC). Maybe we could save some money and do some fun stuff for the good of everyone with part of what we have on hand.

MemberS can know anything they like to know about how we do things or how much money do we have and how we are useing it. Just not for everyone to see or know. Meaning only club member have that right to now or see.

For the par meter the clubs will be in June 18. I saved the some money.

I agree that stuff has not been taken care of as quickly as it should have been and I take my part of the blame for that part of it cause I am on the board. I think things just kind went all over the place for everyone and communication was lost between the board but hopefully we can still get things straight.

You dont have to worry about offending me cause when I'm wrong I'm wrong...period... Just like my way of thinking about the balances and books being shared. Now that you explained it to me it makes sense and agree with you on that point of sharing that info.

As far as the $$$ is concerned I cant speak on that cause it's not my area.

If you were half as smart as you think you are you would have read that little part of my post that said:

What that means is that only member should see this information.
