Just bought one at a local show. Based on the photos what type of blue carpet anemone is this? Is it supposed to be white in color with a green base and turquoise tips? Is this bleached or is it ok? Do I need to start treating it?

My particular 20 gallon tall has been set up for well over a year. It has had the two clowns, 2 pajama Cardinals, one watchman goby, emerald crab, fire shrimp, 2 sea urchins in there from the beginning.

It is very bleached so deff gonna need good lighting.

You have a pic of the mouth? Is it closed tight or swollen?

That anemone is pretty bleached but seems to be otherwise healthy. With the right light and if it still has some zooxanthellae left it could make a full recovery.

Though that tank looks a bit sterile to me.

It's a gigantea. Given proper care it will color up to tan, blue, green, purple or a combination of some of these colors. It's hard to tell now because the nem is bleached.

Also I'm not really sure when this has been fed. Would it be a good idea to maybe cut up a few chunks of not frozen shrimp? What I just place it in the middle of it?

Be careful with shrimp from the supermarket. I feed my giganteas the same Mysis I feed my fish and they seem to like them.

You have a gigantea anemone - one of the most difficult creatures for the home aquarium. It will need excellent lighting, strong flow and stable water parameters. What do you have for lighting and flow? Also, what are your salinity, ph, temp, alk, ammonia, nitrate and phosphate values?

I have a AquaRay 1500 NP for lighting. This anatomy is placed directly underneath it. All other parameters are great. And slow is awesome, since it could almost pushed off the rock.

Generally I feed the anemones defrosted Mysis, but a few times they caught half frozen chunks that were meant for the fish to nibble on. While it doesn't look like this hurt them, I wouldn't recommend doing this intentionally.

Once healthy and established gigs seem to be quite hardy even under less than optimal conditions. Mine all get a load of light and seem to like it. One is straight below a Kessil A360N E-Series and has almost quadrupled in size in just 4 months.
