So Much For That Aggressive Reputation

I know each fish has it's own personality but it's amazing how much each can deviate from it's reputation.

I inherited a Percula Clown that I didn't particularly want in order to help out a friend and I figured it wouldn't last long because I had an established Maroon Clown in my tank which I really liked and "everyone" seems to think an established Maroon Clown will harass and likely kill any other clown. I bought in to this theory 100% since my Maroon was over twice the size of the Percula but I figured I could chalk up the inevitable to "nature" and the previous owner of the Percula would nod and understand.

End of the story...the puny Percula clown immediately attacked the Maroon. I did everything I could think of to catch one or both of them with absolutely no success and this evening the "passive" Percula finished off the Maroon. One dead much loved Maroon and one surviving little Percula that I didn't want in the first place. Reputations be damned. David managed to do in Goliath and Perculas aren't always passive even if they are small.

That is very much out of the ordinary. I'm sorry you lost your Maroon.

I'm sorry you lost the maroon, that must have been hard. Though certain clowns have "reputations" I've always read that when clown species are mixed it often doesn't go well and in sometimes unpredictable ways. From your experience it sounds like what I read was true! :(

Sorry to hear that, After my Mocha lost her first partner that I got her with she decimated the replacement mocha and within 5 days he went tile surfing to get away from her. Wimen.

I will say I have a regular ocellaris with her now, and while she has kept him hiding the first few weeks he is out longer and longer each day and there is less and less aggression from her. Sometimes it is just luck and time.
