So need to move 1000+ miles!

Ok all packed and loaded. House cleaned. Cars/kids/dogs prepped. Delayed leaving today due to usual random issues.

Tomorrow morning 100% focus on the fish and hitting the road.

Minh cooler is perdicular to long axis, yeah not filling to the top.

Anyone know how much power you can draw on 12V cigarette lighter?

Depends on your car. Usually 15A.
If you go close to the limit I would suggest to get a box of spare fuses.
I had to put a 20A fuse into my car since my tire compressor pulls 15A but has a higher startup current spike that always blew the fuse.

You can get an inverter from 12v to 110v from most larger truck stops. This would be the way to go to power your equipment while traveling.

Good luck on your trip.

I've got to ask... what are 2.25 dogs? :lmao:

Doberman, large mix part Australian Shepherd, and Daschund Min Pinscher mix.

I have an inverter, well two but the first one got packed.... Max is high, going to keep it at 100w max. Luclily it came with a couple of fuses extra.

Thanks for the info Roew, back to the fish. I'll try to get photos up tonight. Hotel wifi....

I recently moved a little more then half this distance (700km). I lost nothing on the trip but a good 50-70% of my livestock after. I had to stay with my parents for a month and kept everything in holding tanks and this is where I had trouble. I'm now in my house and slowly setting everything back up. At this point there is no point rushing.

One thing that shocked me is how well my haddoni handled the move. For the month at my parents I kept it in a 15 gallon barrel inside a coffee grounds container with 4" of live sand. No ill effects. It's now in a sump not hooked up to a tank yet. Looks good still is sticky and just fed for the first time since the move.

If things take an extra day they take an extra day. Rushing and doing something stupid can cause more harm then sleeping and doing everything when your mind is functioning.

Good luck!

Aight, after some major moving hurdles made it to Redding! After getting onto the car, very smooth. So far everyone looks fine, I've never driven smoother in my life. I learned the hard way after the first turn. Going to crash, sleep = good. For now everyone is alive. Truck aquarium seems to be working. Neighbors had some fun with it!

Ok, temp 76 in the morning, some smashed coral, expected. Clowns and the Mag doing great. Haddoni went up the wall, stressed, more flow, Crispa detached. Rest of the fish hiding, with hybrI'd blue being a boss.

Hit ting the rode, clown car continues!

At a rest stop, heating and counter current power head up
Male anthias crazy stressed. Ammonia badge all clear. Looking better.

About to crash, smooth day, all the fish are accounted for. Anthias seems most uncomfortable. Anyway, it's late, noticed a small amonia spike accor ding to the badge. Amquel added. Plugged everything into the house power, me them into the house and 40g breeder tomorrow. Rodi should be a piece of cake to hook up, also going to setup the skimmer right inside it.

Out of the whole move, so far the fish have been been the most relaxing. Everything else is much more of a pain. Night all. Adventure continues.

PS-Glad I have a truck, it smells like a swamp. Airing it out. Also, cooler = incredible insulation.

Well, getting settled in the airbnb, filling 40g with rodi, heating, mixing, transferring etc

Truck aquarium seems to be doing fine, need a water change mainly and a transfer so I can test and light.

What's a better option than photobucket, it won't let me upload lol, really want ro post some photos. Kids, dogs wife doing well. Nice not to have to move anymore for a month. 2600 Sq ft house and garage purged and packed. Tank moved. 14 years, collect for junk than ever needed. Gave away so much free furniture and random items. Old neighbors are happy.

Anyway, not expecting much drama today. Just getting everyone situated and kids into school... 1000 mIle move!!! Never doing that again. :)

Moving sucks... I just moved from Chciago to Calgary, Canada. It sucks. Luckily I did not have fish.

Glad everyone made it safe.

Moving sucks, especially long distance.
I hope your fish and corals will be OK.

Just resize the pictures to 800X800 and loade it directly to RC server

^^This.

Photobucket is annoying, especially when people clean up their storage and delete linked images and leave threads with vital information missing. It's better to store it right here on the forum.

The largest dimension have to be 800 pixels or less. I often resize my photo to 800X600. Use "Go Advanced" option instead of "Post Quick Reply". There is an option to upload picture there. Then you can copy the picture address and use insert image tap above to embedded the picture in your post.

Actually, when posting from a smartphone via Tapatalk, adding pictures is even easier.
