So the 9004 skimmer has a place that the light sensor from 3155 can be clipped into?

No, but the main body is the same body as used on the 3162 and 3163 filters which do have a place to attach the optic sensor. It wouldn't work in the 9004 due to the bubbles.

Yes, but the heater cannot have a tube of longer than 8.5", in many brands like Eheim Jager, 50W is the limit, but in some brands up to 100W can fit.

I would need to research this, from what I recall Sera is one and I believe the old Aquarium Systems Visi Therms but it has been sometime since I checked and our factory list is inaccurate for 115V as 115V heaters are generally longer than 230V. The heater has a dedicated compartment and does not influence the media volume.

First, I checked out the osmolator sensor, it could be used and would mount in the back behind the unit, not inside it, this was my mistake from confusion with the larger filters.

I would need more info on the heater, it sounds very compact and then my concern would be it gets very hot and may damage the plastic. It could be OK if this is a heater with a remote controller and temp probe as that takes up the top 1/4th of most heaters but 100W is really the upper limit and officially 75W is what we recommend as if the heater gets too hot it could damage the plastic. I need a little more time to search heaters and lengths, it is kind of tedious since many manufacturers don't list that info.

I think the bulb on the end will be a problem and I also worry that the whole thing probably has to be submerged, the box holds the top plastic cap and about 3/4" will be out of the water.

Yes, the sensor could work for the 9004.

OK, so I searched the major brands and here is what will work as best as I can tell from the stated dimensions. Their is room for a 7.5" tube in the filter box, this is where it gets fuzzy as manufacturers state total length and their is almost universally a 1" long seal cap that is supported above the filter box. This listing covers any heater under 8.5" long and in the case of Sera they are 8.7" but the seal cap looks to be larger. This listing does not imply that I have personally tested it or endorse these heaters and the most we endorse is 75W, however many hobbyists have used 100W without issues.

1) Penn Plax Cascade, up to 75W should fit
2) Eheim Jager, up to 50W will fit, confirmed (oddly in Europe while the 75W sticks out a little the thermostat is lower so it works, the US version will not)
3) Sera, all sizes up to 100W should fit, Petco lists these and while Sera is not a huge player in the US they are a fairly respected brand in Europe, this would be one I would look at.
4) Hydor, 50W will fit.
5) Marineland/Aquarium Systems Visi Therm, as best as I can tell none will fit, but it is possible if the thermostat was lower in the tube they could work though they would stick up higher.
6) Hagen Marina, up to 100W should fit
