So this is my tank.

Thought I should probably start a thread. Bounce some questions off you guys.

Its' a JBJ 20 RL, AI Hydra, IM Skimmer and Nano Smartwave, Ehimer 75 watt heater.

A buddy of mine if going to build a rack for the addition of an ATI 24 in 4 bulb fixture that I have. I just ordered some Geisemann bulbs. My buddy is not a hobbyist so I am trying to figure out the best way to stabilize the rack that will hold both the ATI and the Hydra. To the tank stand or to the brick wall is the question? Any ideas appreciated.

For ATO I am looking at Tunze and JBJ, I have had only good experience with both companies.

Tank filled Dec, 24 2014.

Despite my best efforts to not go sps again that seems to be the theme I can not shake. I will deal with dosing other than manual once I get to that point.

Corals/Vendor
:
Acropora Formsa, DD.
Acropora solitaryensis, DD.
Red Digitata, Fishy Business.
Purple Digitata, DD.
Montipora Setosa, FB.
Favia, Christmas FB.
Favia Unknown, FB.
Goinopora Green? FB.
Unknown evolving zoanthid FB.
Stichodactyla tapetum/Maxi-mini, DD.

Expecting a package of Acropora from Battle next week, I know I will be getting the Pink Lemonade, Nausta?, but the others will be a surprise.

Will order a pair of ORA Pink Skunk Clowns this week from LA.

Well that is my tank. Goals are to get rid of the spot light effect, keep the tank simple and cool/temp.

smtank,

For mounting your lights, it's really however you would like. We decided to mount ours to the wall so that there would be nothing in the way on the sides of our tank. We used 1" conduit and other hardware from Home Depot along with caps for the tubes from Ace. You can build a frame to hold your lights and then hang the fixture from the conduit. Take a look at this link. This is how my wife and I did it, it may give you an idea or two.

That looks excellent, nice system. Now I need to look up your tank thread. :-)

So my back wall is brick, I might have to go with mounting to the stand. I like the sleek look of your fixture very much as well the two fans you have mounted.

Thanks for the example.

If you have brick, use cement/mortar anchor and screws with a masonry bit (cheap) for your drill. I doubt you'll need a hammer drill for brick. They work great and you can easily patch them when the time becomes necessary to do so.

Today I added the Tunze 9001.040 Skimmer. Last week I added the Tunze Nanostream 6040. Both products perform perfectly, the skimmer is silent with no vibrations, no micro bubbles and producing skim. The Nanostream creates a perfect surge in a nano. Next I will add the Tunze Osmolator 3152 on my days off.

Just thought I would share. :-)

Looking good, how was your battle corals order?

Went well, received a nice frag pack, still trying to figure out who is who, they came labeled but I lost the list :sad2:. The Tyree Pink Lemonade is the biggest, it's a nice little colony.

Thanks, tank is getting there. A couple more sps and some zoanthids and bam the tank is full. Just the dosing pump to add and I am all automated, yaaaaa.

Very nice what's that first coral in the second set of pics?

It's a Tyree Pink Lemonade that I got from Battlecorals.

Thanks for the compliment. :-)

Tomorrow I get a Green Haddoni for the clowns, and a Crocea from DD. Move the frag rack behind the rocks and glue some stuff down.

Thanks jjk_reef00. :-)

Unknown Acro I picked up at Fishy Business about a month ago. New Crocea and Haddoni, both arrived in excellent condition.

Looks great - what fish and inverts do you have?

One Pink Skunk Clown, two Domino Damsels. A large Haddoni Carpet, the maxi-mini Anemone, a Fire Shrimp, and just 5 Snails, 5 small Hermits. One Crocea and one Maxima Tridacna.

I have since added the Tunze Comline Skimmer, Tunze ATO. Dosing pumps next week.

And then last but not least the ATI T5 fixture added to the Hydra.

Thanks for taking a look.

Is that the 9001 or 9004? I am running breaking in the Cadlights PLS 50 at the moment, and less than impressed.

It is the 9001, I am a big fan of Tunze products, had the 9002 on my other nano and loved it.

Had the IM, but I could not dial it in, need constant adjustment and made a lot of micro bubbles.

An ATO is really essential for a nano skimmer, saves time and allows the skimmer to be more efficient. You have an ATO so you're good to go.

How is the 9001 doing? The PLS 50 that I'm using is just pouring out microbubbles and I'm thinking of switching.

Well no micro bubbles, and it's nearly silent. The height placement in the tank needs a little fine tuning, but over all it's great. I just put the Tunze ATO on so that will make a difference as well.
