So whats the hottest most rare, most wanted sps frags now?

Hottest and most rare are 2 differ things in my opinion.

As far as hottest I agree the red dragon is with tdf being a close second.

As far as most rare, I'd say the tyree grafted simplex or my personal "holy grail" the original Eddie's Purple Monster.

My definition of hottest was, like you said, well marketed, popular and hyped. If your definition of hottest is best looking acro out there, I totally agree with you that's it's not.

Have you seen the RD in person? I was skeptical of it's "hotness" from just seeing pictures of it. I can say, now that I have it and in person it is stunning. Definitely hot! It is so fine and delecate it is unique in it's own (the finest branching acro I've ever seen). The colors are great too, red body, glowing purple tips, and white thread-like polyps.

I can't get a true color representation on my TDF pics. The coral looks nice in person but all pics do not look even close.

agreed, very 2003 for me...I am in no hurry to add this piece to my collection again.....and when I say a hurry I mean I will not pay that much for it!

Red dragon might be the best marketed coral but not even close to the hottest IMO.

I've got maybe a 3" mini colony (frag) that I've grown from a 1" frag. I agree its nice...just not the hottest. Also I have never been able to acheive the deep coloration that I have seen on a few pics......even with it on the sandbed. I think this is pretty common too....

red dragon is a walindii acropora which is classified as rare on the aims website. this piece came from tony. color is dark red in lower lighting with white tips but turns more purple with baby blue tips in higher lighting in my tank. I have another mariculture piece of this waiting to be colored up.

whats nice about this acro is that the large colonies exhibit various growth forms from thin branches to almost flat branches near the base

I like my red dragon, so much I bought it twice when I had some issues with my tank and lost the first piece. However for a red piece I much prefer my aussie piece I got from DD.

and I guess the piece I want the most is..
