I have so many lbs of live rocks but it's been dry for so many months. Doesn't that technically be call a lbs of just ROCKS. It's not live no more if it's dried out.. hehe just my pet peeve when i am searching for rocks on CL or something.

Its cuz the reefing community is used to calling reef rock from the ocean as "live rock"

I personally call it dry rock if its dead liverock. Theres also different kinds of reef rock. (Pukani, tonga, base, etc) which ive noticed most local sellers dont even bother specifying.

Yep, live rock is alive rock and dry rock is dead rock. If it's been sitting in your yard I'd consider it the worst of both worlds. No longer alive but requires a considerable cycling process to get all the dead stuff out of it.

to me i just call them rocks. Can't call them live rocks if there is no live anything on it.

I think a happy compromise would be to refer them as dry reef rocks, if you say just rocks that could be anything, going to travel 30 minutes only to find out that the guy is selling fancy pretty rocks that line the bottom of a goldfish tank?
