I just did this few days ago. I used pure white vinegar and tap water 1 to 10 ratio and ran pumps and powerheads for several hours. After that I just put them into regular tap water and ran for 15-20 minutes. Finally, took them out and let them air dry for 24 hours. They cam out nice and clean and looking like new.
Will be soaking rest of the equipment like HOB skimmers and such in the same solution for several hours and then clean them with tooth brush or something of sort.
Just watch for motors sealed with epoxy. There are claims they should NOT be soaked too long because the epoxy will become a safety issue. Never happened to me but ----
