Soaking nori for tang

I just got a couple tangs and bought some nori for them. I heard of people soaking the nori in garlic, so I got some garlic gaurd and was wondering if I just pour the garlic gaurd into a container and have all the nori soak in it and when ever I need a piece I just take one out and clip it in the tank? Sound right?

Hi,

I would soak just as many sheets as you need for the day. So it will always be fresh und there is no risk of "rotting" (sorry I don't know the right translation for what I mean). Hope that helps.

Soak whatever the fish will eat in a day. If you leave garlic in the seaweed it will turn to mush. Use less garlic and more selcon, when the fish starts eating it stop using garlic. It been proven to cause liver problems long term in fish

Should I Mitch garlic with the selcon. Also do I leave the nori in the tank until it is finished or should I take it out in a few hours.

Leave the garlic out & dab the nori with selcon. I found it helps to fold it in 1/2, cut the loose ends in a way to make it look like grass or a plant. It will look natural & when a fish takes it, it should take a portion instead of a huge piece floating around & causing a mess.

Since they're new fish, they might not eat as they should so if you see it holds together, I'd leave until you go to bed & then take it out.

What kind of tangs are they?

Tomini tang and yellow eye kole tang

Nice! Not sure about the tomini, but that Kole should keep your glass & rocks super clean. Mine got right to work & was very cool. Good luck.

Soaking nori for tang

It shouldn't be complicated. I used a shot glass to soak nori in garlic/selcon cocktail for a few mins then attach to a clip...before I ditched nori sheets for herbivore pellets.
