Check out this crap and the link someone posted.

It's living inside my frogfish!!!

I wasn't able to find the thread in the FO forum. Going to try to find that real quick and hope some people can leave me advice on removing this blood sucker before I try to extract it this afternoon.

Not yet, I tried last night and almost got it, but in the end I think all I did was stress the fish out even more. I will probably try again tonight.

may want to get a broad spectrum antibiotic to treat him because of the hole/injury. Dont want to get the isopod out only for him to die of a secondary infection.

I'm still waiting someone to tell me a specific product to buy for antibiotics. I asked a question late last night on the third page of this thread.

I see in the other tread he is gone. I would still try to get Seger out of the tank. Move him to another Qt tank if possible. That isopod may be there somewhere and could go back to the fish..Did you find which antibiotic to use?

I followed some of the likes to other forums and there is a link to an article of a girl who got the isopod out and was holding it in her hand and it started to eat into her hand. Thats some sick Poop.

Keep that hush hush. I read stuff about that. Like one person waking up in the middle of the night to find one between there fingers biting them... I don't want my gf to read that, lol.

IT IS BACK! :-(

I am upset beyond belief. I didn't have enough water or money to buy water, to set up a qt tank. So Segar, my frog fish, never left the tank where the isopod left and it crawled back into him.

I am borrowing money from my gf to get some meds up at That Pet Place.(getting in the car right now) If anyone could donate some RO water it would be greatly appreciated. I was ok on water until I found out I had to set up 2 qt tanks and take down my 75g.

how much do you need, jon? i have 3 5g containers for taking ro to the office. i can have those filled and about 20g more for you if you have some way of transporting it. let me know.

Jon, I always have a 30 gallon trash can full of RO if you need some. no problem. just bring buckets with tight lids. We gotta find you a cheap used RO unit somewhere.

Ted if you are coming to the meeting and could spare a bucket or two that would be great. Ken I may swing by your place later this week. I have a bare bones unit that I am going to try to hook up later this week, but at only a couple of gallons a day, and one small prefilter it takes a while to make 70+ gallons of water and it will clog up before too long with Newark water.

I need to see if I might be able to fit a 50gpd membrane in my 24gpd unit which needs a new membrane. It would be worth a lot more to me if I could output water in a day or two.

Jon

Thanks for the water Al and Ted. And thank you for offering Ken, I will let you know if I need more.

Segar is in his qt tank with reef salinity now and I am going to start to add the water I got tonight slowly to decrease the salinity. Hopefully the hypo will drive the blood sucker off.

Thanks again everyone,
Jon

If a larger capacity TFC membrane will fit in the bare bones housing, you will also need a larger capacity flow restrictor to make it work. some of the RO shops online sell them both. if you email them they should be able to tell you if they have a retro kit.

BFS sells a universal capillary flow restrictor for 4 bucks to go with the membrane upgrade. its under accessories.

or how about : the compact or typhoon model here?

Until you can get a better RO , i can help with some water. it just costs you more for gas to haul it around town. let me know how much you need and i can fill another20 gallon barrel too. I have one 5 gallon jug you can use, and buckets with lids.

IT CAME OUT!!! THE blood sucking SOB ISPOD is out of my fish! I'm soooo happy.

Now what should do with it? :-D (Evil grin)

put it in a small glass vial full of vodka, and keep it for show and tell! that's something we don't see everyday. It looks just like those giant foot long isopods the deep sea researchers bring up from the abyss..
