SoCal tropical fish?

I'm thinking really hard about buying a new skimmer from SoCal Tropical Fish and they have a 20% restocking fee on returns. So I wanted to get some opinions from people who have bought from them before.

Tom is an awesome guy. Some bad experiences with nasty customers have made harsher rules for new customers. Unfortunate but he will still have best price and a great inventory. Ask questions on here and in the store and you will have no need to return anything.

I think you need to be sure that you purchase the skimmer you want. I'd not hesitate buying from them but I'd be sure of my choice when/if I did.

oh no, I know exactly what I want. I wouldn't blame the store if I made a bad choice. I just wanted to make sure that there weren't bad stories from people getting broken items or something.

+1 on socal tropical fish...just bought a skimmer and other stuff as well, didn't hesitate, great prices...but I agree with GTR, when you go in there make sure you know what you want, other than that tom helped me alot on my choice of a skimmer...

Tom is a standup guy and will take great care of you. I bought a skimmer from Tom a few weeks ago and the pump stopped working 5 minutes after I first plugged it in and Tom took great care of me and gave me multiple options to resolve the issue. I would not hesitate to do business with him at all.

I wouldn't worry about problems in shipping or a manufacturing defect as those are not what I'd consider to be returns. I think the policy is in place to prevent "buyer's remorse" returns.

i dont think you should worry about buying from tom, he bend over backwards to make his customer happy. there are a few bad eggs, but it gets old.

I wish! but his price was already close to 20% off other stores price. maybe a little more.

Yeah hes changed his policies cause of some douche but he'll always take care of a customer.
