SoCal's 60g SPS cube (2x2x2)

LOOKS GREAT!!

couple of questions why did you pick the radion? did you consider the AI SOL? just asking because i'm trying to decide on what led lights for my next build

next question.

why do you have your heater in your DT and not your sump? is that common to do now?

I chose the Radion because of the multiple color options and the fact that the light pucks are modular, so as technology improves I can swap out the LEDs and keep the same fixture. I also chose the Radion because of the great light spread. As for the heater, I had just switched stands for the tank and the water was a little cool so I was running the heater in the DT to warm it up quicker.

I am currently trying to figure out what kind of Fairy Wrasse to add to the tank. I have a perc clown, possum wrasse, mccockers flasher wrasse, a shrimp goby, and a flame angel. What would be a good choice of fairy wrasse to maintain a peaceful tank?

Man, looking at that cable is kinda throwing me off.

If you go to a saltwater tackle store, you could get some 90/lb rubber coated cable that is a whole lot thinner than that and would look really clean. It would never break either. You would barely be able to see the radion hanging. All you do to secure it, is buy some sleeves and crimp them down on the wire.

Ya, the wire is a little unruly. I have to get a wire cutter to clean it up a bit. I will look into other options at a tackle store. Thanks for the heads up.

Don't get me wrong, ur tank is fantastic! If you suspend that radion with very light almost invisible wire, it will look so clean. You might be able to use piano wire or any wire that is thin but strong enough to hold. The reason why I mentioned the rubber coated wire at a tackle store is because of salt creep. I've noticed when I fished with wire leader that wasn't coated or the coating got damaged, the wire would start rusting and eventually break.

You might look at some monofilament leader like this. It crimps really easy and is very strong. Won't rust...clean look!

Ya, your stuff definitely looks better than mine. I will have to look into this.

I was thinking also, why don't you move the two support arms more towards the center of the tank and make them more the width of the light fixture instead of stretching hanging wires over to the fixture?

Added two of these today

I think they are female McCoskers making three McCoskers in the tank. Planning on adding a Leopard Wrasse in the next week or two if I can find one locally. I plan on having about 9 fish total; currently there are 7 in the tank.

Hell of a tank. Keep up us all updated
Thanks!

Picked up a Ornate Leopard. Dove right into the sand. Pics of it when it comes out.

That makes the fish list:
1 perc clown
1 goby
1 flame angel
1 mccosker wrasse
1 possum wrasse
2 female carpenter wrasse
1 ornate leopard wrasse

I am working on a 60 cube as well so I am monitoring your build closely. Have you tried firing the MP10 off the rear wall vs. the side? I am planning on running two off the rear wall but finances will dictate that thay are phased in one at a time. Anyway, your tank looks great!

I am running the mp10 on the side as opposed to the back because I only have one right now. Like you, I have to wait for a second. I will be putting them both on the back and using the short pulse mode for some waves.

The ornate leopard came out this morning. It is a very good looking fish, about three inches long, and sorta plump. I dropped some frozen bloodworms in the tank and it ate 2 or 3. Good sign.

Good looking tank. Currently building a tank just like yours. I am getting a AI fixture though. The radios are sweet but I can't justify the dollars.

The AIs are good fixtures. I went with the Radion because it is modular and after buying 2 AIs for the tank (which I would have done), the price is about the same. Good luck with your build.

The new Leopard Wrasses. The ornate is eating frozen bloodworms, mysis, and brine. The vermiculate is picking at everything, but not keeping most of it down. I think it will come around.

Here are some pictures of growth with the Radion. Note the encrusting on both and the multiple little branches on the carolinia sp. frag. This is after a month under only the Radion for the GARF bonsai and two weeks for the carolinia
