softies species and LPS compatibility

Good morning,
In the long run, I plan to grow LPS in my recently cycled 120 G tank. until then I would like to start with some fish and soft coral.
In view of the "hostility" between softies and LPS,I am looking for soft corals that would be compatible with future LPS. is there such a list?

Thank you

Yehuda

In general you want to place corals properly..
If the coral has stinging cells/commonly attacking others then you need to give it space to not attack..

But there is no list to your question..
There are LPS corals that are known to attack but thats about it.. Or was that what you were asking? (a list of aggressive LPS corals?)

I believe what the OP is asking about is "chemical warfare" between softies and LPS, an issue not greatly helped by placement. Most people (myself included) run carbon to alleviate the problem.

It's basically all trial & error.. Just as an example I've got a Bubble coral that brushes up against some zoanthids on a daily basis and nobody seems to mind. There's also a Mycedium that is basically leaning up against the stalk of a Todstool and these two seem to get along fine too. As far as chemical warefare goes this does happen, but it's not as bad as people make it out to be IME. One of my older tanks was predominantly softies and LPS corals and it was set up for 9 years without ever running carbon. Regular water changes, plenty of circulation and efficient skimming seemed to do the trick.

The link below can be used as a guideline as far as which corals are known to be aggressive and which ones aren't.

Leathers can spit quite nastily; xenia exudes chemicals. In general, put the softies next the water exit and the stonies next the inflow, and keep carbon in your system constantly, changing the bag every, oh, 4 weeks. Women's kneehigh stockings make a good fill-and-toss-it bag, but you can also reuse a commercial bag.
