I have a very docil 7" naso tang, 1 3 inch yellow tang and 2 3" blue tangs in my 320 gal reef tank. I have fallen in love with the sohal and thinking of buying one. I have read that the sohal is the most agresive of the tangs. What size sohal do you think I should buy to mix in with the other tangs? Or should I not mix a sohal in at all?

I would get a 3-4" Sohal, I have a 9" one in a 240gal with a Sailfin and Purple with no problems since all the tangs know who is the boss. I have enough rock and places that the Sohal can't get into if the other tangs need a time-out from the Sohal. Sohals get big quick I bought mine at 4" he grew to 8" in about 7months, i only know of one other person that has a Sohal in a tank around where I live with other Tangs in the tank. You are taking a risk with a Sohal added to the mix, but you might get the aggression dispersed over all the tangs and might get away with it. I actually have such a bold Sohal that if I need to remove him he comes up to my hand to feed and is easy to catch, did it once.

good info bubba, it is a risk putting a shoal into the tank. These guys are highly aggressive and grow like weeds. There was a guy who posted on here about his shoal killing his lionfish. Thats how aggressive these guys can be.

I wouldn't mix it, though you do have a nice size tank why mess up the community of tangs you have now. Its a risk adding a sohal with any tangs but less of a chance the bigger the tank is...Though your tank is big i don't think its big enough to take that risk.
