Sohal tang

Do all Sohal tangs get really mean? I just saw the nicest sohal at the lfs. I have a 400 gal. tank with a juvenile emperator, and a juvenile queen angel. they are the fish that I figure will be the show pieces, but I wouldn't want a sohal killing either one of them. would it work with these fish?

IMHO, long term likely not.

I had one in a 240 reef and never had a issue with him and had him for over a 2 years before he outgrew the tank.. I had mine with big angels and other tangs. Each fish is different might have only been a matter of time before mine went pyscho

What are the tank dimensions? Size of Sohal? Size of angels? Many Sohals become terrors once they reach 8-10" but nothing is guaranteed.

more often than not yes they are very aggressive. Mostly after 6+ inches. They are known for killing every last fish in the tank if they want. Your tank is large so it MIGHT be ok but only time will tell.

The only thing I would say is if you go with a sohal, do your best to go much smaller than your other fish. Also do not hesitate to closely minitor for agression. They are always a hit or miss, and many times a miss..

The problem with the Sohal is that while it can be fine when small, it becomes a mean ba$tard as it gets bigger. Probably a 84" long tank is not big enough for a big Sohal anyhow, so you'd be looking to get rid of it once it gets big anyhow (say over 8 inches). IMO, better just to not go there in the first place.
