Mongo77 yes they are all clones from the original. They do occasionally sting some other corals but its has never been that bad that the other corals don't recover. Thanks for the view.
Thanks True Blue. It was a form follows function decision for me. No more water dribbles, no fear of jumping jawfish, and a massive reduction in evaporation, and easier access in and out of the tank than the regular glass hood.
I actually haven't noticed that it looks different. That's probably because I have a few oceanic cubes that have a similar rim. I am debuting a new project soon that may or may not be rimless ;-)
Hey guys, I'm going to try putting the stock skimmer back in my setup and try it again. I've kinda forgotten how to set it up. Does the long air hose just need to stick up out of the water somehow? I figured there'd be a little clip to hold it, but apparently not.
bumpAnyone else running a bubble magnus NAC5E?
Hey guys, I'm trying to get my stock skimmer running again. I found out the pump died so I ordered a new SP-160 from Amazon. I have not used this thing in 2 years, so I guess I'm not sure what might be wrong. I'm not getting hardly any bubbles coming out of it.
I took off the airline hose adapter plate from the old pump and put it in the new pump (pic 1). The hose is free from obstructions and even in the sink, I can't get it to produce many bubbles. Is there suppose to be a cover that closes off the 3 little holes where water gets in? Or so I have this set up correctly?
Can I ask someone to confirm the stand dims are 22x22? Thanks, I appreciate it.
I have a few questions for those running fuges in the back chamber.
Which chamber do you use? 1 or 2?
What kind of light is being used to grow chaeto?
Anyone using DSB?
I was thinking about modifying the chamber 1 so it has a protective acrylic barrier (kinda like a baffle) around the overflow area towards the bottom so the sand won't fly all over the place.
At one point I used chamber 2 as a fuge with a bulb on the back shining through the glass. I had fairly good chaeto growth but it did nothing for nitrates. My nitrates were around 7-10 for the whole 6 month experiment and remained at that level once I dismantled the fuge. After a bit of research I learned that for appreciable nutrient control through the growth a macro algae, a fuge nearly the size of the display is needed. I know that a lot of people do have tiny fuges on their nanos but I think these to be ineffective. For nitrate reduction I suggest some form of carbon dosing. I use biopellets in an hob ViaAqua 20 reactor.
reelfishy, I think it has a mark on the front of the tank, bottom left corner.
Ooh. I was hoping that was the answer. The one I have has the logo on the bottom left.
