Solana tank owner thread.

My LFS was able to get me the Aqua Medic Spacelight EX 24" 250 HQI + T5's for $400. MSRP is $575 I think. I love Aqua Medic fixtures.
 
Just ordered my solana.

Had a few questions.

I've heard water can get under the tank on the stand. How can you remedy this?

Also can you put something underneath of the tank like that white board everyone puts inside of their tanks?
 
Ok im in a dilemma, I decided not to do the two pump idea for a refugium. I still dont have room for a HOB or gravity fed refugium. That leaves me with one option and thats to have an external overflow box running gravity to the refugium and a pump to return water to the display. My question to you Solana owners like me is if that pump fails it seems like the overflow would continue to put water into the refugium b/c the main pump would still keep the water level in the display at the level of the overflow box. My LFS says no because the water level in the display would drop however they don't seem to understand that it wouldn't if the main pump was still operational. I am speaking as though the refugium pump broke not as if there was a power outage that I understand would lower the water level in the display. Any help would be great, pics would be better.

Ah ok I wasn't sure if it came from indiana ocean or the indopacific.

I see what you are saying about the fuge pump though. I cannot think of any way to solve that either. I know of know real failsafes.
 
Yes...there's felt on the bottom side of the tank so you can slide the tank around on the stand without scratching the bottom glass. I'm sure you can sit it on top of a piece of starboard too...but I've never heard of water getting underneath the tank.
 
I see no reason why a sump/refugium under the DT would be an issue. If the return pump fails, you just need enough room in the sump to hold the extra water till the overflow runs dry. This should only be a few gallons at most. This is not really any different than a standard setup on a larger tank.
 
Yes...it's on the outside of the bottom glass & is black. It's to protect the bottom glass from getting scratched while moving the tank around on the stand.
 
Wherever you buy from, make sure it is shipped via freight and not UPS or standard mail. Otherwise, you are likely to get a broken tank based on other buyer experiences.

My Solana, not much to look at right now. I have a few more zoas ready to pick up. Upgraded the skimmer to sapphire and the return pump to a Eheim 1250.

Ok, so I've been through over 80 pages on this thread looking for the answer. I bought a used Tunze 9002 and am looking to put it into the 1st chamber of my Solana. The problem is my 9002 came with the old style bracketing system and not the magnets like the new ones have.

Has anyone made my version work in their Solana?

If not, does someone know where I can purchase those magnets to attach to my Tunze?

Lastly :D I saw one person do neither of what I mentioned and built a stand for it to just sit on, anyone have any information on that?

Pictures would be great of anyone's back of their Solana with the 9002. Thanks everyone!

*Note* I did purchase the Stevie T skimmer cup so it would fit.
