Solana tank owner thread.

bhovinga, They are cool! If you want a very nice AIO they rock. Nice size and no distortion like the other major brands. If you want to add a sump and get fancier, they can be a challenge like any other AIO.

i can get a solana tank cheaper than a coustom 20x20x20 made. most things could be hidden but there are some that cant. i want to run a phosban reactor and in order to do that i will have to habg it on the back.if i had a sump could hide just about everything and i will also have a bigger fug too whcih is another reason i wanna run a sump.

Honestly you don't really need a phosban reactor if you have the fuge in the sump. Let the macroalgae do its thing the natural way to remove phosphate. I'd just run carbon in the reactor and let the fuge do its thing. I have a lot friends that do the same with their reefs and it saves them money in the long run since you aren't changing out the phosphate remover.

That's why I want to make the middle chamber of my solana a fuge like mkiv did.

Why not buy a used 40 breeder, drill it and put a sump under it? I kind of wish I went that route just because I want a sump badly.

i want a rimless than thats y im going with the solana. and i need it to be 20x20x20 cuzz this is replacing a ap24 in my room. not to much space to sapre in my room so it cant be to big. it is a good idea to turn the middle chamber to a fug but i feel like its a little small. i want to gro pods in the fug so i can support my mandarin.

Blazing, I love my solana, going Cube is the best thing i did after owning my aquapod, especially the black silicone they use. You wont regret it.

the solana stand is 18x18x32or36 cant remember, one thing is you're going to lose the square look with that stand but as long as it has those dimensions i see no problem. Also the solana stand doesnt come drilled in the back, but you can do it in 30 secs.

The top of the Solana stand is 22" x 22". That gives you an inch all the way around the 20" x 20" tank. The stand is 32" high.

All in all, I really like the Solana stand. Well built and looks nice once you put some frosted plastic behind the glass.

so will a solana fit fine on the biocube stand? will the cornors of the solana stick out? any pics of this setup?

What are the dimensions of the biocube stand?
If its indeed better than the Solana stand (which I'm not a fan of at all .. Cheap imo) ill change out to that stand in a year or two when I move.

according to the link below on nano reefs the bc stand starts to curve a 19.5" in the front so it seems like .5" will stick out at the cornors in the front. i was really hoping it would work cuzz the bc stand like much better. from the pics i seen of the solana stand they look pretty strong but i have seen a few people say they suck. i might have to build my owen now hopefuly i can find a nice stand that will work so i wont have to build one.

Not sure why people think the Solana stand is so bad--maybe there was an early version that's different than mine. Mine is all wood, no particle board. Everything fit together perfectly. It can be a challenge to level because it's 4 individual legs rather than a flat base. After looking at the stand for the AquaPod and BioCube, I ordered a second Solana stand to use with an AquaPod I'm setting up.

You forgot the link

To me it sounds like the Solana footprint is bigger than the top of that stand. You could make a top that is bigger than the top of the stand. If you have a place nearby that sells granite countertops, I think a piece that small would probably be considered scrap and sell for a reasonable price.

I read somewhere in the internet reef club that someone has been using the Biocube stand for Solana. He needed to add a 2X4 in the back to support the extra 0.5. The tank has been running for a year without any problem. I am thinking to do the same.

if u guys find any info about the solana tank on a bio cube stand plz post it. at this point i am thinking of building my owen and have been planning it already. and i just ordered my solana tank todat woot. its on sale at petsolution.com for 249 with free shipping and no tax.

blazing, I'd call where you bought it from and make sure it will ship via a freight carrier. Those receiving it via the normal mail carriers such as UPS/USPS/etc have mostly received broken tanks.

it has already been ship ups. dammm i know how ups is cuzz i use to work there. guss i just gotta wait and see if its gonna get here with out any damage.
