Solana tank owner thread.

A Quiet One Or a Mag may work then you have better brands like Tunze or Ehiem. You may want to try and match the GPH rate pretty close or you may mess up the balance of pump to return ratio, In other words It may pump more water than the overflow can handle. JMHO I'm sure someone has done this B4 and will chime In...
Bill

I have used a lot of those brands before and I guess I need to find out what the stock pump does for GPH, maybe somebody could fill me in.I would like to get something off the shelf and thought I read somewhere that somebody was using a Maxi-Jet 1200?

I know the chamber in which the return pump sits in is small so I need to be careful with the size of the pump.

Can anyone plz. tell me the size of the loc line that is needed to connect it to the return ball socket connector? I bought a used system and it wasn't included and I want to get one. TIA

Well Im guessing thats the max setting on that pump. I dont know about you guys but I have the flow on the stock pump dialed down to the lowest setting cause I have enough flow in my tank from my 2 tunze 6025s.

I think I remember people using MJ900's to replace the stock return pump. I thought about using a MJ1200. Probably will pick one up soon to replace the stocker.

I'm going to replace mine with a MJ900 (half the wattage and still 2/3 the flow of a MJ1200). My return pump was dead on arrival, I'll post back and let everyone know how it works for flow.

I used a Eheim 1250 in replace of the stock. Its a tight fit, I wrapped the pump in tygon tubing so theres no hard surfaces touching the glass. Its works perfect and is dead quiet, runs cooler and will last forever and a day.

Best pic I can get.

Let us know how you worked out the connections from the pump to the lockline tubing, lots of pics too :)

Thanks for the lead on the pump, that's a great pump and would of never thought one of those would fit.

FTS...I've scaped' to form an atoll with a shelf of rock across the top...I guess an atoll-cave if you will:

Probably a silly question but I'm confused why you wrapped tubing around the pump?

Yes, I tried a mj900 and the pump vibrating against the plastic and glass was a bit much. Now the only thing touching the plastic or glass is the tygon, its absolutely silent.

I will be headed to Home Depot to get this for one of the reactor pumps I can not get to quiet down. Feel silly I never thought of it myself and funny how something so obvious eludes you.

i got my solana from ups today from petsolutions and i can confirm that it is starfire. now i just need a stand and light. anyone have an idea for hqi light besides the sunpod. I kind of like the sundial hqi/t5 that comes as a package with the 25g solanas
