I modded my skimmer and now it works too good and is unusable. The bubbles flow so full that they fill the cup in minutes. I can't get the cup far enough down to stop them from spilling out the left side, if you're looking from behind the tank, and into the second chamber.
Anyone have any ideas?
I actually took off the mesh but the two holes I drilled in the plastic tube that goes from the pump and into the chamber and the three holes I drilled in the plate you take of to get to the impeller are still too much.

Weird. Others reported the stock skimmer mod to work with no problems with great results...
Honestly Im not too sure cause I havent done the mod yet but I'm definitely interested in a solution in case I have a similar problem.

I love it! alk, calcium, an magnesium compartments will hold 2 large jugs each of B-Ionic. Top off section holds 7 gallons of ro-di. fits perfect!! Going to hook up reefkeeper tomorrow and organize cords! :spin1:

Be Careful If you Automate everything you'll have nothing to do at all. Some things are better done by Humans I think?

Bill not following u here. I program the doser o test water. What I have makes it so much easier to maintain without human error!

So explain to me the profilux doser, that is what you are using to dose the alk, calc, and mag? Would the RKE not do this as well? Or how does the profilux work, I'm not familiar with that?
Do you need both? What is the purpose for you, of using both?
I own a RKE and use it for my lights, pumps, ATO etc...so I know the purpose of it, but not the doser you have, could the RKE not be set to dose as well?

Got a sapphire skimmer from someone on my local reef club today, brand new, never used, cleaned it up and the pump won't fit in th hole in the bottom of the skimmer. Anyone know if it is ok to take a drill or a file and make the hole a little bigger.

I am using the disco ball/ hair dryery pendant and like the way it looks and would like to keep it. I'm wondering if anyone uses it and has a good way to add suplemental actinic spectrum lighting? I like the dawn/dusk effect that I used to get when I had a outer orbit fixture and I really miss the actinic color enhancing effect. I looked all over for some type of clamp-on the back type of light as I think that wouldn't look too funny along with a pendant, but can't find one.
Also wondering if I could get the same actinic effect with LEDs as I got from VHO and T-5s? I was thinking I could make a LED fixture that would mount to the pendant somehow if that was the case, and mound several blue LED's on there. I guess they would need to be high power LEDs, but maybe someone has done something similar so I don't re-invent the wheel?

That set up Is Awesome, I was just trying my hand at ribbing about all the extra gadgets we come up with for our tanks. Not meant to demean anyone or any neat Idea to make things easier. I too would like a set up like that to do my dosing!

I Used two way tape to mount Moonlights to my old Disco ball and It worked great, Just keep them In the rear and you don,t even see them. You may be able to do It with a LED bar If It Is not too heavy by making some kind of bracket the shape of the ball. Just a thought

Yes it can but you will still need a doser pump to do that. I have temp probe, ph probe, salinity probe with my reefkeeper, waiting on the tunze module so I can have it connected with my reefkeeper an can have flow reduced by 50% during lights off. It will also control my lights an pumps along with chiller an heater.

Hi All,
I have had my Solana up and running for about 5 months now. I was cleaning the stock skimmerr and knocked it on the side of the sink. The next thing I know the seems are split in a couple of places on the skimmer. Any suggestions for the best way to fix the seem splits?
mine was split at the top i used thick superglue, same stuff I use to glue frags.
