Solana tank owner thread.

Lpsouth-My main is concern is why are you using a 400w MH on such a small tank? Perhaps it could be too much light. But if this isnt a recent change I wouldnt think too much of it. If nothing else you should run some carbon for any contamination. Try looking at the tank during different hours of the day for at least 10min a time to see if you can find the problem.

Does anybody have any experiences with tunze power heads? I can't afford a mp10, so tunze seems to be the next best option. I'm just not sure which one to get for my 25g?

Tunze 6025 was pretty good for my 34G solana.... Gave enough flow to make everything happy.... Should be even better for a 25G..

It was my previous tank, so instead of selling it for much less than what I originally paid for it brand new, I'd rather just keep it and use it for something.

Why not set it up as a separate tank and just get a rubbermaid tub or a 5.5g as a ATO reservoir?
Shame to be using an ADA tank as a ato bucket...

Plus you know we all need a second or third tank :bounce2:

Update on my tank order from petsolutions.com:

Tank and stand arrived yesterday, as feared the tank was smashed. Looked like the box was dropped at some point. Pet solutions basically puts Currents packaged box in another box with padding. They also do put a Fragile Glass sticker on the new box.

Called petsolutions and told them on the phone. New tank went out right away no questions asked no proof required. New one arrived today in perfect shape!!!!

You can currently buy the tank seperate if you like for $329 plus you get a $50 gift certificate for future orders and free shipping (although crap shoot on number of attempts for UPS to get it right)

Just a quick update I changed out my bulb on the 150w MH about 2 months ago to a 15K XM bulb and now that it has had spome time to burn in im loving it. My SPS, and zoes are exploding with growth my LPS are gorwing quite fast but this isnt a new thing as they always have. I dont have any mushrooms so cant say much there. The only thing that doesnt like the new light is my Long tentacle anenome which after 2 years in the same spot (left corner buried in the sand) it has started moving and stinging everything. Needless to say its up for sale on my local forum. Oh I also ordered a corner frag rack by eshopps from marinedepot and it works great in the solana.

Can anyone confirm the exact depth of how far the overflow sticks out into the tank from the back wall? 4"?? 5"???

TIA!!!!!

Is anyone using the 2 pole Current USA hanging arm kit with they're Solana's? If attached to the back of the Solana stand is it tall enough to have the light 10" off the water?

TIA!

Thanks Ralph. I was actually going to do that but got a killer deal on the hanging arm kit from a local reefer. I'm really pleased with the look and height I ended with.

The transfer is now complete from the 60cube to the Solana. I can say I'm very pleased with the way it all turned out. My only complaint (which is actually kinda cool) is my LR pilar sticks outta the water about 1/2". It does look kinda cool having the island effect.

I'll get some pics up soon after the tank clears

Has anyone considered building a wavebox into one of the diagonal cut backs? It is something I have been pondering for a few days now.

Hey folks..we have a 25g, 18" cube. It came with clips and a glass lid...the only problem is that water wicks over the clips causing water to drop down the tank at all for locations where said clips are located.

Anyone have this issue? TIA!
