Solana tank owner thread.

I have made a few upgrades. I modded the tunze 9002 with the air line mod and moved the magnet to the back! Skimmer is still breaking in though. I purchased 2 RBTA's from a local reefer here. Acclimating as I speak. Going to redo my light hanger as the pvc bends a little to much for my tase. Going to use Metal electrical conduit . Will have pics with in the next few days!

Great man, can't wait to see pictures!!

Thanks. Here are the first - it looks like....an empty Solana. But I've also included a shot of my ATO and electronics, and my initial attempt (results pending) to put window tint on the glass from the door.

Rocks / Sand arrive tomorrow!

Added the glass panel back with 5% VLT tint applied - it looks great. The photo does not do it justice - it obscures the insides but still looks like nice furniture. And the wavemaker lights actually look pretty cool. Would definitely do this again.

Where did you get the tint at?

Also I made some changes today. I changed my homemade PVC light stand to metal conduit. Painted black. Also took some cell pics of the tank. So hard to capture these blue leds. Does the tank no justice. But also planning out a minimalist aqua scape and tossing some of my LR to a friend!

I will try and get a decent full tank shot soon!

Both clowns are now hosting, I did nothing special. And yes I love the metal better then the pvc. I should have a FTS by sunday!

Took my ora ocellaris several months with a very large rbta before the female ventured in. It took the male another month. Now they have made it their home and breed regularly. I did nothing special.
In another tank with a baby ora perc and a baby ora oc, the baby perc hosted right away. I got the gbta because the perc was killing a frogspawn. The oc never showed interest in any coral but got the hint from the perc and took over the gbta. The perc is back on the frogspawn.

Yes I love the MP10 on my solana!

What setting are you running and at what level of power? I'm going to have to build a dock to put mine in the middle chamber. I'm running a mini fuge in there now with little benefit realized other than a home for pods. I do have a media rack in there as well with carbon on the top.

I run chemi pure elite and carbon in the back middle chamber along with filter padding to catch dirt and what not. I run the reef crest mode at slightly about 60-70%.

I'm running my mp10 at nearly the same power level as you and also running on reef crest mode. I'm currently debating starting bio pellets.

I'm using GFO in a TLF reactor right now and has helped with phosphates. Testing shows that I have a mild issue with nitrates and I'm thinking that the biopellets would be helpful if I do it right. Before I do that though, I'm going to mesh mod my stock skimmer to get better skimmate. I'm not all that thrilled with the stock skimmer. I even drilled very small holes in the impeller and that helped, but it's still not enough.

Prior to making some changes in the tank, I have been running a media rack with the following set up top to bottom. Marineland rite size "A" filter pads filled with carbon (thanks to former 34 g member Medred) followed by purigen, then cheato, then chemipure elite. That worked well, but I was still getting some film algae on the glass every day so I decided to try the reactor. So I dumped the purigen and added the reactor a few weeks ago. I think it's helped, but I'm still getting the film algae.
