Solana tank owner thread.

I have done this too. Night and Day difference on the skimmer. I was surprised on the pump performance.

I also took a bit and bore the air inline to increase the ID, it pulls more air now.

How did you hear about this mod?

Do you have a yellow watchman in your solana? Are there other Gobies in there? I have a YW in my 95 and am contemplating moving him into the solana, but you're right, he doesn't sift the sand at all.

I have a YW in my tank now. I thought about getting a twin spot but wanted some color. No other gobies current or planned. No sifting to speak of but he looks cool. I rely on my Nassarius vibex snails to stir up the sand bed.

I was hoping he would pair with a Orange Pistol Shrimp I bough later, but that does not seem to be happening.

I think the YWG mostly pairs with only the Tiger pistol shrimp.

Sand sifters are tough in a small tank without a tight top. Something that will hit the sand a bit are Rainford and hector gobies. They stay smaller and are sized better for a small tank.

Twin spots are very hard to keep (supposedly)

Rumor was business was split due to divorce with sapphire Aquatics. So sometimes its better to stop the hole from getting to large and just come back with a fresh start. I'm more than willing to bet they come back with same an more products but under different company name. Just my opinion though.

Decided to add an mp10 to the tank along with my tunze. What a neat powerhead! This unit has so much versatility. Have it running on Reefcrest mode at about 75%.

I agree. I'm using a 6025 and an MP10. No dead spots in the tank.

Hi guy i'am ready to buy my solana what i want to know is what will be my best bet when i order the lights.I plan on keeping sps and clams i hear that some people are not being happy with the mh pendants they offer with the solana. i was thinking of a fixture mixed with a 250 mh and t5s. I was wondering if 250w mh will be over kill. i need your help with this i only want to buy lights once if i can help it thanks.

No I didn't need to use the spacer. No need really on the thickness of the solana.
