Hey Tunze skimmer owners: Does the stock cup fit in the Solana, or did you have to buy a new cup?
Hey Tunze skimmer owners: Does the stock cup fit in the Solana, or did you have to buy a new cup?
This question is for the custom StevieT cup users. I haven't yet gotten my cup in the mail but I do have my 9002. I haven' cut the magnet off as the skimmer easily fits in the first chamber with room to spare (without the Tunze cup).
My question is do I need to remove the magnet if using the custom cup?
Thanks.

Do you guys have any suggestions for quieting down the overflow? I think the main source of noise is water flowing thru the slits from the tank and falling down to the skimmer chamber. I tried putting in a sponge but that just seemed to back everything up.
Other good news today is that ammonia and nitrites are now at 0, and nitrate is at 20 - I guess I just need a water change. Temp hovers between 77-81. Is that too variable?

My other suggesstion other than the baffling would be to take some 10 mil (I think that's the thickness) PVC mat, and cut it in such a way that you can hang or clamp it to the top of the overflow and have it long enough to go beneath the water level in the tank so that the water coming in "slides" down it instead of dropping. I used this material on the outlet of my HOB skimmer with much success.
