Solana tank owner thread.

Here's a couple of images of my nano.

I'm trying to clean up some bubble and hair algae. Also, there is some purple bubbles that have red/ pink spots that I don't know what it is. Its in the picture with the sexy shrimp (standing on top of it).

Does anyone know?

Livestock:
Clown Fish
Blue/ Green Chromis
Lawnmower Blenny
Yellow Watchmen Goby / Pistol Shrimp Pair

Things are starting to come together with my Solana. I'm very happy with how the tank, stand, and equipment look. The Powermodule is awesome and really bringing out the colors. Yesterday I received some Reef Brite LEDs... This week I should be getting my Aquamaxx HOB-1 skimmer and aqua lifter pump for my ATO.

I still have to get the Liter Meter III dosing pump and my ATO setup.

I am thinking about picking up the Apex Lite for my Solana.

Anyone using Tunze Nano Osmolator yet? Thinking about getting it. Would solve some issues we have w full size Osmolator.

The Nano doesn't come wih a back up float switch. I would not buy any ATO system that had zero redundancy. Even if it's a Tunze.

My current tunze I have always had issue with optical sensor. Every night it like it can't sense the water and adds to much. To the point the second sensor signals an alarm. Which is no big issue I just turn ATO off at night. Now my optical sensor isn't working at all and doesn't as water.
My thought is to get tunze nano (to eliminate optical sensor) and also add second float switch for my digital aquatics controller.
Two forms of protection.

Funny, I had EXACTLY the same problem with my Solana. It was a bad optical sensor in the end.

Make sure you're not putting the sensor in the same compartment as a heater; apparently that can sometimes trick up the optical sensor.
Have you cleaned the sensor? Try using vinegar to clean it off.

The heater is in the display tank and not in the back chambers at all. Kalk water goes in 1st chamber. Second chamber has Skimmer and third chamber has ATO. We have cleaned the sensor w/ vinegar a couple of times w/ no luck. Seems to be bad.

My other tank (25g AIO cube) also has Tunze Osmolator and I turn it off every night unless I want to wake up to the alarm. During the day it works great.

So for me I'm not one for the optical sensor. At least on our Nano.

Mine is completely covered in coraline not sure how you could keep it clean. I actually like the way it looks and couldn't wait for it to get the black covered up. I have seen someone put clear plastic acrylic over it so they could keep it scraped clean.

It's kind of a pain. That's why I had a piece of 1/8 inch thick black acrylic attached to the back. It looks great, IMO.

If you use a brush or stiff sponge often enough, you should be able to keep ahead of it, though.

Think about it... The acrylic that is on the solana has a texture that doesn't lend well to scraping. The black acrylic I'm using is as smooth as can be. Ideally it's best to do this step before getting the tank running.

This was happening to me at night as well. However, it was due to snails blocking the overflow long enough to slow flow and lower the level in chamber 3 (sensors location). Once snails moved, level went up and trigger alarm.

I resolved this by turning off ATO from 10pm to 7am.

So you guys with Solanas and dosers where are you dripping the AB in? Right now I have it set to drip in the far right corner. Thanks

WOW 90 pages last time I was here there was like 25-30.. Got a lot of back reading to do.. Maybe someone who is current can tell me will the razor 160w fit on our tank with the legs? I am getting ready to go pick it up at my lfs
