Solana tank owner thread.

For the first chamber, if you leave the magnet where it is, the lip in the second chamber get's in the way of the other half of the magnet. I had it mounted like this for a while and I never really could get the skimmer in the right position with it there. Nor could I use the upper drip plate in the second chamber (which I use a lid for the refugium I have there). If you have a rotary tool it's not too hard to just cut off the magnet and epoxy it to the side (then you can just mount it on the glass and it is really easy to position it).

Thanks for the info. You said the magnet would be in the way of the lip/drip plate in the 2nd chamber. Could you just turn the skimmer around and have the magnet on the outside left side of the tank? Based on your recommedation of removing and reinstalling the magnet, you now have it on the backside of the tank, correct?

hey there. thanks for the kind words on the glass. It looks like you guys have everything covered. I bought mine at home depot and there's other styles as well.

Here's the link. like fishtaco said, all you need is water, a squeege, straight edge or credit card, and scissors or cutter. you probably want to put multiple layers on there though.

I painted the back of the glass door black with latex paint... it matches the stand and equipment... looks nice and you can peel it off if you didn't like it anymore.

I didn't frost the glass I added a a plywood panel after routing cooling slots in it. It needs to be sanded more plus a few more coats of poly to match the door finish, I messed up the far right slot so I just put this one on "temporarily".

Home Depot also has a spry paint window frosting.It's in the paint isle.It works pretty good,I used it on my bathrrom window.You can make it as heavy as you want witha a few coats sprayed on the glass.

I used black self stick shelf paper to cover the glass and it matches the stand perfect.

Hello all, first all of the landscaping in your tanks are incredible. I am hoping to be a new Solana owner before Christmas (filled with water and live rocks).

I am looking for a Solana, tank only online and can't seem to find one. The big online stores sell them in the kit form. I like to build my own stand and buy a Sunpod 20 instead of the kit halide light. Anyone know where I can find one?

Nice tanks! I am new to the thread, here is my kinda new solana tank. Most of the fish and corals are from my old 20 gallon (I know I know.. yellow tang.. dont kill mehh!!... fish is only a temp *temporary contract *.. i will trade him to my LFS once he gets to big.. his doin aight for now).

i have a question for all the TUNZE nano 9002 owners. for the ones who have it in their left chamber with the StevieT mod cup...does the mod cup fit with the magnet attched to the back of the skimmer rather than the small side it was place on...thanks for the help
