It does fit with the magnet on the back side of the skimmer (the side that faces the back glass of the tank). This is how I attached mine. You could probably fit it the reverse way but the magnet would be inside the overflow slot.

El real nice tank...Look my buddy just got a solana and im trying to help him can you show me some pics of the back of your stock tanks ????? Also should the stock skimmer be pushing foam out of the top 4 holes I wouldnt think so.......

The bubbles should stop coming from the top in a day or two. Probably just breaking in, mine did this for a day also.

Thanks kel,

The colection cup might be too low, adjust it up because foam should only go up to the neck of the cup. Unfortunatly i dont have pictures of the back, it is too close to the wall for me to take any but i will say that it is all stock, the only things im not running are the small bio balls and the blue pad that was included, everything else is being used.

I have a Solana that has been up 3 weeks and the temp is a constant 81 degrees with the ambient temp around 74-75 degrees. I have unplugged the heater and it still stays at 81. I have verified the temp with a floating glass temp gauge.

Can the stock pump and skimmer be putting out that much heat to keep the temp at 81. When the 150w MH is on in the day, it might go to 81.7 and then down to 81.1 when they go out. I am using the glass top and have a Azoo two fan unit clamped to the back.

In the tank I added a Seio Prop for movement, but the temps were 81 before and after I added the Seio, so I don't think that is the problem.

I was hoping to keep the temp below 80 degrees or may just a tad higher when the lights were on.

Any ideas?

Yes the pumps can put out that much heat but I don't see a problem with your numbers unless you are trying to maintain a temperate biotope.

My Solana

My Solana

Here's my solana, i got it about 2 weeks ago, i took down my 55 gallon and kept what i liked in the solana and got a few SPS. I had to rescale the photos so hopefully everything looks ok.... Let me know what you guys think, I also have 4 fans on my solana, a refugium with PC lighting, the stock metal halide 150w bulb, stock skimmer, stock return pump, hydor powerhead (came from 55gallon, alot of movement is good for the SPS and gorgonians i keep. I will post some more pictures soon because it already looks different then the pictures

solana sapphire skimmer

I'f anyone is interested I have a sapphire skimmer for sale I bought it 2 weeks ago used it twice decided on a hang on fuge and now it wont fit had to stick with the stock for now.

Its listed in the selling forum

Are you owners with the standard 'disco ball' 150W happy with it? I just bought a Solana and am torn between the Sunpod 250 or the disco ball.

I am concerned about what I can grow more so than heat. I can always buy a chiller.

That's good to hear. The LFS has some small SPS in their's under the disco ball ( 150 W ) but I'm not sure how healthy they are...

Do you happen to notice the light being very bright in the middle as opposed to the sides? That's what I see at the LFS and really want to make my corals happy as well as keep some acans, sps, etc...nothing TOO heavy though

Well, I went ahead and chose the sunpod 250 fixture :D

I hope my setup can look as good as everyone's here :D

Anyone have any advice for me regarding this fixture over this tank? Height, time on etc?
