Solana tank owner thread.

Very nice tanks, everyone. I'm still trying to decide between the Nanocube 28 HQI (possibly modded from nanotuners) and the Solana... whichever one I go with would be used as a QT for my soon to be build 65 mixed-reef, then turned into a SPS dominated nanoreef in a year or so

Are any of you running a chiller? If not, what temps do you see on average with this setup?

Dailydriven, I'd love to hear more about your setup... looks killer with the 250w mini-lumenarc!! Any heat troubles? Did the Tunez 9002 drop right into the middle chamber? More info and new pics please!!

The newer tunze 9002's have a magnet on the side of them now that makes it impossible to fit in the middle chamber. I ended up buying it anyways and i broke the magnet off. It took about 30 minutes or so and it didn't hurt it at all. They are just glued on with super strong adhesive.
 
Hey whats goin folks...I really looking into getting one of these awesome lookn' setups. i have a question tho...for those with the HQI pendant..do you guys use lunar lights at all? if so, waht kind and where do you mount them?? also are the majority off ppl. keeping stocked equip. or is everything being modded now??

I really like the look of lunar's on the coralsl, so waht everyone think...what else is good to use beside the pendants, that i can get that 'look' in the day and night,
 
Oh and just another quest. what the avg. price ppl. are buying these for...i'm seeing. about $799 alot of places plush shipping...
jus curious............
 
My LFS has it at 699.99, including stand. I am sure they would ship if you are willing pay shipping. But it might be easier to simply visit the store, they are in East Norriton, PA 10 minutes from Philly.v Not sure if I can say the name of not.

or u can get 1 inch galvinized pipe and bend it...mine also has custom moonlights on each corner... best part about the pipe is that when i get into my tank it swivels and i can pust it out the way:D ill post a pic tonight

Has anyone had problems with the clips for the top leaking? Water seems to be traveling over the clips and down the tank at a pretty significant rate.

i thought that was happening because i changed the stock pump that
was 300ish gph to a 760 gph pump?? i didnt know it did that with the stock pump... i had to cut out every other slot on the overflow and drop the water level in my tank as it was at the rim:eek:
 
Does anyone have an Auto Top Off System for the Solana. Would love to see pictures of it to get some ideas.

probably getting a Tsumani auto top off unit this week. Just waiting on the aqua lifter pump. I will post pics after I get it installed.

Anyone else losing a lot of water (half gallon a day or more) through evaporation? If so, what are your solutions?
 
got a jbj ato and 5 gallon aquarium to go under the stand. Had an aqualifter but it wouldnt pump high enough so I went a quiet one 2200. Definatley has enough power!

its a lumenmax 3 with custom mounting bracket w/moonlights
 
here are the moonlights... i mounted them on each corner outside the reflector... the first time i mounted them it was inside the reflector... bad idea since it the 250wde mh just melted them in 5 mins:eek:

well in the pics i just posted you can see that i had added enductors to my outlet to increase flow rate, also added a diy fan to keep my tank stable at 80degrees... w/o fan it was getting to 84.... now it stays stable and no need to hook up my chiller as of yet
 
yes they are 250de and the bulbs are helios 20k. that was the best color imo campared to hamiltons and 20 k xms
