Solana tank owner thread.

After staying up past 2 am we finally have our solana setup. Its kind of hard to see but we have a cave for the fish to swim thru and lots of holes in the rock work for them.
Corals are starting to show PE. Our next step is to move the fish over sometime today.

We put duplicate sps in just in case 1 didn't make it.
We will either weed out or be fragging often.

What do you guys recommend Koralia NANO or the Koralia 1 for The Solana_

Can someone help me choose pls, (I want to know about flow, and if you can post pics so i can get an idea of size once installed in the tank)

I haven't used it yet but I've got a Koralia 2 and two Nanos.

My thoughts on it are that the #2 will directly collide with the flow from the return and then one nano will be for surface agitation and the other will be for the back and under the rocks.

All just theory until it's actually set up...

yea. My return is stirring the sand up at the front...not so bad but then again i dont run the loc lines on it...I want to add a powerhead for surface aggitation and extra flow.

I've seen people run the Ko 1. but i like the size and GPH rate on the NANO.

just get a vortech mp20. only pump you need for the solana.

We where lucky and purchased a used Vortech mp40 for the solana. Only pump we use beside the filter pump plus it doesn't create any additional heat in the tank since the motor is on the outside of the tank. I would look on the sale forum and see if you could get one that way.

What is everyone using in the overflow.
I tried 2 pre-filter pad with the intent to remove it and replace w/ a clean one everyday. That way I wasn't spending money on filter floss. Problem is it clogged in about 3 hours and I noticed the tank surface rising.
So currently I'm using filter floss and throwing away everyday.

Wow - that can get expensive. And be a hassle too. I'd like to hear some options too.

I had the same problem. I had chemipure + a sponge in chamber 2 and after a few days it would clog up and cause my ATO in chamber 3 to kick in when it shouldn't.

I made chamber 2 into a refugium with little piece of live rock and chaeto, but no sponges or anything that will allow gunk to build up and inhibit the flow into chamber 3. For carbon/phosban I run two reactors.
