Solana XL67 is Here!!!

Wahoo! Reefkeeper came in last night! :)

I'm still searching for a hang on fuge. Trying to avoid buying new....but may end up doing so. Oh the joys of upgrading!!! Lol!

what is the reefkeeper can you tell me more about what it does?

The most bomb awesomeness ever, it comes with either 4 or 8 controllable outlets, timed, at a certain temp, etc, you can then add on things like salinity, ph, ORP, float switched for topoff, and even a net module that will let you check your tanks params from your phone or the internet. It is basically a computer controlled timerstrip that does OH SO MUCH MORE!

check out the site, digital aquatics .com

I have his camera :D lol

BTw Patrick, the Reefkeeper really is that awesome, the base package for the lite model is $99 and comes with a temp probe and a 4 outlet controllable power strip called a PC4. You can add up to four modules onto the base model, for example 2 PC4s (8 controllable outlets now), an SL1 module to do Ph, and an SL2 module to do ORP and Salinity. Or other combinations including the net module... it really is cool because you can expand it starting at $100, which by the time you buy 5 timers, you are almost there anyways... :D

I am developing a list of my top 5 must haves for an efficient SW system, and this is on it I believe....

Patrick: RKE Net:

1 x ReefKeeper Elite Head Unit (GC1)
2 x RKM-PC4 (total of 8 outlets)
1 x RKM-SL1 (Inputs: pH, ORP, Temperature, 2 x Switch Ports)
1 x Temperature probe

1 x Digital Aquatics pH probe

Nope, if I am correct, it only comes with temp and ph... I would still add the SL2 for salinity etc...

Right now I have pretty much what DJ outlined.

As far as a tank update.. wow.. it was major yuck this morning, I am getting the green growing in the tank now, all over everything.. It's funny to see the algea on the shelves.. like wow.. whatever snail or hermit makes it up that, will be king of the tank!! lol.

I will get my camera back soon so I can take some pics of the nastiness. :)

Nah man, it's cool homie. :)

We are all here for questions and answers right? Honestly.. This whole Reefkeeper thing is all new to me.. I had the same set up when I first got into the hobbie, and I spent hours trying to set it up.. almost through it threw the window!! lol!!! But I traded it. :)

Here are some pics of my solana 67, really great tank size to view and work with, here is a picture of when it was 1 week old and another one 5 months later.

Sorry for the rear ugly glass panels, clean them last weekend and it makes the tank look amazing.

Looks awesome. :)

You have the wooden frame on in the second pic right?

Yes I decided to put the glass lids on during winter to help reduce evaporation and keep the temps more stable, the tank runs very, very cool and during winter I just didnt want to have the heater on all the time.

Plus it helps reduce the top off water reducing excess nutrients into the tank...

Will get rid of the wooden frame and glass covers any time soon probably mid april or may

Really... Thats good to know... What temp does it run? And how cool do you keep your house? I bought a Current 1/10 and it's still on the box, unopened. :) However I was thinking of running it for constant temp. Also I will have the glass on with the fish that I am planning.

My house AC runs 79f during the summer, on my previous tank a 34g solana the water temp would run all the way up to 85f during the day So I had to have a 1/15 chiller keeping he temp at 80f

When I upgraded from the 34g solana to the 67g solana I dint install the chiller because I needed some extra pvc fittings...

To my surprise the tank kept a very stable temp of around 80f during the day (with out the glass lids on) an it was on the lst couple of weeks of summer.

I still will add a chiller to my solana because I dont want to leave the central AC 60,000btu on when Im not at home during the weekends or on vacation.

On the solana XL 67 the glass lids add around 3 to 4 degrees to the tank.

This is excellent information! :)

I will install the chiller for ease of mind. As much as I travel, and use my AC to cool when I am about to get home, during, and when I sleep. I really don't want to increase an additional 8-10 hours a day for the tank. As I still haven't decided if I will use glass lids or not. Right now I am, however once I look at what fish I can use that won't jump, I will decide then. However the DSB and structire have all been built with the assumption that a BSj would be digging under the rocks. :)

I am still looking a CPR Medium Fuge as well.. lol.. Guess I just need to by new.. Grrr. :)
