Solar powered aquarium from Italy

This is so awesome! love the solar idea and the aquarium looks gorgeous!! cant wait to see this months from now!

Couple of pictures of my cryptic zone with 150 pounds of live rocks:

That's a powerful tool... I just have to feed fish, than the cryptic provides coral food.
I always had good growth, sign that cryptic... "rocks"!!!

I never mentioned it before in this topic.

Cryptic zone is a compartment of sump filled with live rocks and kept dark with slow water flow.
It gets soon colonized by sponges and other filter feeders that remove particulate from water and supply coral food in form of larvae, eggs and gametes

Paolo how do u keep the detritus from building up!

I ve heard a lot of stories that eventually it becomes a detritus trap!

I was thinking of going the benthic route as it seems easier for maintenance!

I 13 months the detritus is just few millimetres.

DSB keeps the detritus to a minimum, and water flows in an empty chamber before to reach the cryptic, so there's some sedimetation that I remove each 2-3 months.
