Solar Tubes?

I've been looking into Solar Tubes, and had the rep/installer at my house on Friday - he mentioned that someone in the Port Charlotte/Norht Port/Sarasota/Venice area had a set installed over his fish tank ... does anybody know someone local that does have them?

Don't know anyone locally who has sola tubes but if you have a large tank in Florida it's a no brainer. Free light and no bulbs to buy.

can anyone say solar panels on the roof. i am running 1000 watts over my tank and am starting to get nervous with all my other add ons.

The idea of a Solar Tube lighting your tank for daytime free light sounds good but I recall reading it's not all the right light that makes it down the tube and increases the algae. I'd suggest doing some online research first & see if someone who has installed them over their reef tank can "put a light on the subject" for you.
