Some Midnight Fun Feeding My Scoly Collection

Been on a scoly rampage lately! Fed em all last night so decided to snap a few iPhone pics for fun. Yes, the pics are blue and yes they are edited. But if you were come over my place at night when I only have the royal blue stunners on, it looks identical to the pics.

I tried to capture how they ball-up for a few minutes after swallowing a good meal. Let me know what you think and enjoy!

Some of the other scolys didn't photograph well so I left em out for now.

This was just just under a blue LED stunner strip. And I don't know what "PP" is? If it stands for photo processing, then quite a bit needed to be done, as I mentioned. If you ever tried taking pics under dim royal blue LEDs then you understand.

Thanks! I cut up frozen table shrimp into small cubes and let them thaw with a few drops of aquavitro fuel. Seems to make them very plump.

Hi. They're actually surprisingly easy to care for. Low-moderate light and flow. As long as your water isn't terrible I'd say give one a try! They're very bright and addictive.

Unfortunately the more affordable ones are mono-colored like solid army-green.

Well if it should die on me I would not be out $200 like some are going for. Green ones would be good for staring out with. When you say water isn't terrible does it have to be pristine? Not sure of my water quality but I do know my RBTA's are doing very well in there. Along with my leather cabbage and green finger leathers as some of my various zoes.

If you can keep an RBTA alive I feel very confident you can very easily keep a scoly alive. And as a bonus, the scoly won't wander around your tank

Thanks! If you still own any, look for them to put out their feeders 1-2 hours after lights out at night. It's fun watching them swallow up chunks of food.

I have a green but a couple weeks ago I had an algae problem... the ends receded a bit.
Since ten, i've gotton rid of the algae and an its starting to look healthy again.

Any tips on caring for them ?

Unfortunately no, none are from Austin aqua farms. I've seen their awesome scolys but haven't snagged one yet. I am looking for very specific types.

I actually believe scolys to be very easy to care for. Sounds like you've had some nutrient issues? As long as your levels are appropriate, they should so just fine under low to moderate light. If your scoly continues to recede, I would consider fragging off the dying portion.
