Some new fish...

I'm glad the achilles has less ick on him! The goldflake is also really nice. Hopefully it grows big enough in a reasonable amount of time. How long can you keep it in the sump?

I'm sure I could leave the goldflake down there for a year without any problems, my refugium part of the sump is large.

However, I'd like to be able to see him in the main tank so I'll probably just move him in 2-3 months when I'm done with hypo.

Wow the dussu is a lot bigger than the achilles (all I could think was semi running down a focus ). That emperor really is awesome, especially when he's seen with the other fish as comparisons.

WOW! How big is that achilles? He looks 2" like the GF! Isn't the duss only 6"? Geeez, huge size difference! I couldn't imagine the achilles next to that niger! WOW! Glad to see everyone is doing better. So you'll keep the GF down there for a year?

Yes, still love all those fish! Come on achilles! You know, the 2" goldflake may just go overlooked by the fish....but you'd need some good stuff growing on the rock for it to pick on to supplement the feedings....bet it gets hungry fast.

Hah, a semi running down a focus... that is a pretty apt comparison I agree, the emperor looks even better when there are other fish next to him!

The achilles is about 3 inches, maybe even 3.25" if you want to get real technical. He looks real small next to the niger

I'd say the dussu is between 7"-7.5", the guy I got it from cant measure apparently. The emperor was sold to me as an 8" and it's more like 7" and the dussu was supposed to be 6" and it came in around 7 also.

The dussu is a fast growing fish, I can tell he is putting on size already and I've only had him for 2 months. The achilles will never even get close to him in size, I bet the achilles tops out right around the size the dussu is now, whereas the dussu is probably going to put on at least another 6", if not 8-10".

I agree, I think the goldflake would be overlooked BUT I'm keeping him in the sump for a while just so I can power feed him a little. Right now he is eating about 5-6 times a day and he seems starving every time I feed, I wont be able to feed him that much if I put him into the main tank, so it's probably best to keep him in the sump for now.

Hypo will be over in the beginning of July, we will see how much he has grown in that time, I assume little angels grow at a decent speed, I should be able to tell a difference in 10-12 weeks.

Be careful not to prolong hypo and maintain PH levels. I've found Angels very sensitive to the PH drop in hypo so I use a simple buffer. I have 4 fish in hypo (for a week now) and my cycle finishes May 29th.

But you have some fish in hypo but introduced an Achilies with ich to the main display? Seems a bit weird.

Yeah, I can maintain pH levels no problem... it's sitting at 8.17 as we speak.

I was not doing hypo when I put the achilles in. I was planning on doing hypo on the main tank eventually and I knew the achilles had ich, so I killed two birds with one stone.

Yikes, are you going to remove all the LR and sand? I have a few bits of LR in my hypo QT to help with the bio filter and you should have seen it when the hypo kicked in and killed all the organisms in it. I had to remove it daily and scrub for 3-4 days.

I removed my sand like 6 months ago, I prefer a bare bottom tank for a FOWLR.

My live rock has already been through hypo once, there are no organisms on it, it's basically just a bacteria colony.

Well, I put the scribbled in jail, or the rest of the fish in jail, however you want to look at it.

The scribbled still isnt eating, so I separated it off so no one else can intimidate him at all.

I got some clams and split them in half then soaked in garlic and selcon. I dropped in two halves on the scribbled's side and while I was watching, he never ate.

I took a shower, came back out and one of the clam shells is moved halfway across his side of the tank, so either he was eating and picking at it, or just freaked out a little and swam fast, which pushed the half shell around.

I'm hoping he is eating.

Good idea to separate him. What have you tried to feed it so far?

It really does suck that most scribble's come in not eating. I had one on hold at a LFS for 1 week that never ate so i passed on the fish. Goodluck hope it works out for you.

Right now I'm trying half clams, we will see how it works. My emperor angel wouldnt eat until I put in half clams then eventually weaned him over to mysis and then my food mix.

They really are a pretty angel, I'm glad I got him. Now I just hope he eats!

Sucks the scribbled isn't eating. My queen just took to NLS pellets, but my french only wants algae sheets. Still trying to wean them on to my mix of foods, but atleast the queen is eating pellets. The french needs to start eating them too, don't know how long he can last on just algae sheets. Hopefully you get your scribbled eating. I am considering trying the clam on a half shell, but my wrasse and eel will tear it apart before the angels even know its there. Oh and that niger is just a moster, such a big black figure lurking in the shadows. Goodluck on the scrib, keep us updated and let us know what works.

Yeah, I havent even tried pellets yet with the scribbled, I guess I could give it a shot, but I'm just assuming since he wont even eat mysis, he isnt going to eat pellets

I agree, the niger is a beast. I figured when I got him in at 8", he wouldnt grow much more... he has

Some nice new fish there. I have not been on RC for quite some time. My Scribbled Angel was real shy at first. He hid a lot for the first 3 or 4 weeks and did not eat much during that time period either. So I think yours will be just fine.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm willing to leave him on that side of the tank separated by eggcrate for as long as he needs. He is nice and fat, so I'm not too worried yet.
