Excellent photos- you're a pro now :) Do you see and like the difference? See how different the depth of field is on the first few shots and the last ones?
The are the right tubes for your camera; they will help you get closer [more magnification]. Fyi- I've found that using a flash changes the colors of zoos and acros but can be good for mushrooms and lots of lps corals.

Awesome! :D

Not a pro, but a happy novice! ;)

Thanks again for all the help you all. You'll be seeing more of me here.

Revhtree, you have a lot of amazing corals!!! (I love the duncnopsmamia and the balsto!!! unavailable here in France, I'm soooo eager to get some one day!!!!)
andf you're getting really really good for shooting these beauties in your tank! Although your first images were already good, it's getting really professionnal looking! IMHO, you just have to work a bit on your cropping/framing (try not center the subject, it makes the image a lot more dynamic) , and that'll be perfect!

When you get aroung to shooting portraits with that lens....

Long focal lengths like the 100 mm are used for portraits because it de-accentuates the nose. If you stand close to a subject for portraits the nose, relatively speaking is much closer to the lens making it look disproportionally large. So you have to stand back as far as possible. That's why you see many fashion photographers with massive lenses.

Also, in aquarium, birds, and lots of other subject you want to get the sharpest photo you can. Tack sharp corals and feathers look awesome. But in portraits, no one wants to see the fine lines, pores, and other details in a persons face. For that you want a soft focus. This is best done in post processing.

RevHtree...

At this point what would you guess your success rate to be getting even the worst shot you've posted quality wise, color and focus.

I know I'd be happy with pictures half as good as you have here but even on my best day I might get 1 in 50 that I even care to save. I'm not really talking about suitable for framing either, just trying to get across the look of a particular coral.

Thanks...

Thank everyone I appreciate it!

Hey Steve my last shoot I got about 20ish out of about 60 which is not too bad. This was a better shoot for me as far as that goes. Here are a few of the pics.

More great shots!

I'd be happy with 10 out of 60 being presentable. Most times I shoot 40-50 and I'll get maybe one that's even worth the space on the hard drive.

Steve that's the way it is sometimes for me as well.

What exactly makes most your pics unuseable? Blur, Color, etc...???
