Some new macro's (14 pictures)

Do you use any extension tubes or something to increase the magnification? What are some of your settings such as aperture, shutter, iso? I'm just learning macro photography now and it's a challenge for me. I love the lens too for portraits!

MikeD, I didn't use any extension tubes of TC's for any of those shots from back in December. I actually just sold my 100mm F/2.8 macro in favor of the Sigma 150mm F/2.8 macro and I gave it a good test last night (that'll be in a new thread tonight when I edit the pics). I do have a 1.4x TC that I used now with the 150mm but I'm still waiting on my extension tubes to show up.

Clippo, I didn't add any fish shots but here are some that I took that day from the same tank:

Those fish shots are incredible! In the clown pic how did you get the background to be so blurry and the fish so clear?

Nothing special, I just focused on the fish and shot. The background is blurry since I was shooting at a large f-stop (probably 2.8 or 3.2) giving the picture shallow DOF.

Are your pics just cropped then? I can't seem to focus up close to the tank but when I move a few feet away, everything can be in focus. I don't even know how the TC's work or extension tubes since I don't have any. From what I've read, it seems like you can be at the same distance but with those tubes, zoomed in even further with just as easy focussing as when you don't have the tubes on.

They are cropped a little bit, nothing extreme though. Minimum focusing distance is 6" with this lens, you shouldn't need to be a few feet back to focus. Make sure you have the focus selector switch set correctly on the lens.
