Generally I dont like cluttering the forum(s) with just a picture post, but I've aquired some new zoas and have gotten some nice shots of some old ones and feel like showing off :p

The colorful thing in the first picture is a surrogate urchin for the baby bangaii cardinals. The one you like is also one of my favorite ones. I almost lost them when a rogue colony of ugly palys attempted to take them over. I fragged them off and glued them to a plug. Its been rough going but I see a baby popping up.

really nice looking zoos i love the yellows. all have great coloration. Mind me asking what camera you are using for these pictures?

Thanks for the compliments. Now I just need to be patient and let things grow out :p

The camera is a FujiFilm Finepix A345 4.1MP point-and-shoot.

tekknoschtev,

where did you get them???

From various places. Some have come from Preuss, some from a few LFS around here which like me ;) but most from other reefers.

The yellow ones in the 7th picture???

I picked them up from a Local reefer, they werent yellow when I got them, more of a muddy/puce color, but under the halides they turned bright yellow.

thats an urchin? multi colored urchin? it looks like those plastic swords they put in your burger at hard rock to hold the buns to the burger ;)

It's a practice to keep baby bangaii cardinals to stay together and give them the comfort of feeling protected ay an urchin like they do in the wild, usually black long spine urchins.

Others fielded the question but yes, its fake. Ironically, those spines are the plastic swords resturants use to hold burgers together, I just snapped the "handle" part of the sword off :p

As for the "People eater" zoas, I picked them up from a LFS that was having a buy $25 worth of stuff, get $15 worth of stuff for free. They didnt look nearly that nice in their frag bin. I used to have closer to 10-15 polyps, unfortunately an ugly greenish puce colored zoanthid was encroaching on these ones' space, and took over most of the colony. Now I'm attempting to grow 'em back out.
